Yes, Verizon is a bit better. It's also a CDMA network vs. a GSM network.
Since the rest of the world is GSM, we're just going to have to wait until the GSM infastructure is as good as the existing CDMA service.

I would say, there was about a 15% decrease in quality in phone service when I made the switch from Verizon to AT&T, but a significant increase in the available phones and much better pricing with AT&T.
Also, I absouletely loathed dealing with the Verizon stores and customer service. They have 15 people working to sell new phones and plans, and 2 people behind the counter dealing with customer service issues.

Overall, my phone service quality may have dropped a little bit, but the overall experience of AT&T, their phones, their people, etc. is a much better one. I don't miss Verizon one bit.

i've heard the opposite with people leaving att/cing. for verizon because of customer service. maybe att's service has gotten better. i checked out the plans and they're both the same price for their national plans. the only difference is cingular's rollover minutes.

that would be great, but i'm sure their exclusivity contract with att keeps them from doing so.

For the voice plans, yes. But for data, Verizon charges $45/month for their unlimited data plan which does not include any text messages. AT&T charges $20/month for the iPhone data plan, and that includes 200 text messages -- an additional $5 cost to get that from Verizon. So that's a $30/month swing.

Since it doesn't work at my house or at my golf club which combined are where I spend more than 90% of my time, it is very bad for me

BTW, it hasn't gotten any better in three years when I first complained to them about reception. My neighbor's new BB doesn't work at his house on ATT.

Verizon now has a GSM phone (it's a bberry, but it's GSM and CDMA). It's a partnership with Vodaphone. hmmm, maybe i have one

Not really.

Most people just realize the certain carriers don't have it where they live and it erks em to some extent. It's like that with T-mobile where I am although i don't rant i just buy from some other carrier. Personally I really liked Nextel. I found that Beep Beep from San Francisco to Brazil with no delay amazing. No dialing just push the button and talk. And reception up the Kazoo. Yeah I know some folks are gonna say their reception wasn't that good but that's what we're talkin bout Huh???: rofl:
