Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.......

Since I always post how great Russel BMW is, I must post when I have a problem. GRR.

FYI: Russel BMW changed my brake pads two weeks ago.

So my new wheels arrived yesterday for my 545i. I put the passenger side on, no problem, put the rear driver side on..no problem. Get to the front passenger side and couldn't get the lugs out. So I tried the following:

- Used a breaker bar on a ratchet (a 3ft breaker bar), broke the ratchet (forged Craftsman), put another ratchet in, broke the socket (Craftsman).
- Used old school X bar, bent it.
- Fired up my air compressor and impact driver, 120psi, didn't budge.

Torque setting for the wheels on the 545 is 120Nm, roughly 89lb/ft. I put my torque wrench on a lug to see how high it was going...at 130 lb/ft, it was still going!

So, I had to put all the old wheels back on. Called Russel up and told them the deal, so because I don't want to risk breaking the hub (which will most likely happen) Russel is changing the wheels (for free) on Tuesday.

Reminds me of similar experiance I had. I also broke few, good that Craftsman has free replacement lifetime warranty.

At least they are changing for free.

Tell them to put Anti-sieze on hub, so next time you don't have problem after opening the bolts when wheels refuse to leave the hub. I have had that experience too.

Oops. Yea dealers sometimes overtighten wheels and other stuff. Human error; we're not all perfect.

Damn! Imagine what kind of predicament you'd be in if you got a flat late at night in some remote area. You'd be screwed!

No kidding. I'm going to make sure I speak to the tech that worked on my car and show him the manual where it says the specs
