eBay question

I've sold some stuff on eBay and have been fortunate that I haven't had any problems. I recently sold and item and I'm wondering how long you give a person to pay. My prior experience has been immediate payments but this buyer won the auction on Sunday afternoon and as of right now, Thursday morning, has not paid. I sent an invoice right after the auction ended and another reminder a day after that. I'm going to send him another reminder later today and hopefully he "remembers" to pay up.

How long do you give a buyer before you report them as non-paying? Then once you do, does that free you to re-list or Second Chance Offer the item without getting into trouble?

What's the buyer's feedback rating? (number + percent +ve)

I think you have to give him two weeks before filing a non-paying bidder report.

If you file the report and you still don't get paid, you get a refund of your fees.

I usually put in the description that payment must be made 5 days after auction has ended or negative feedback will be left

Typically one week. It's also dependent on the sales price of the auction. If it's a small dollar item, move on as quickly as possible. If you're selling a high dollar item, you'll probably want to pursue the buyer and get them to pay.

The problem with leaving them a negative feedback is that you can always expect to get one in return. Then you have to go through the hassle of mediation, yada, yada, yada. Pain in the ass. Might be better to cut your losses and move on at earliest opportunity.

99% of what I see is shipment after payment received.
So I guess he doesn't want it.

He won an auction for a used PDA. The price was about $200. Looking at his feedback, he pretty much only buys used PDA's so he's some kind of reseller. His feeback is 26 with one negative for non-payment and one for slow payment. This makes me think that he has changed his mind or found one like mine for less , whereas a person buying it for themselves would be more likely to go through with the sale. This guy might have just been bidding on multiple auctions and trying to see what he could win for the least money.

I'm going to give him until Sunday before sending him a nasty message and reporting him an non-paying. He has totally ignored my messages. The problem is that I am potentially missing out on making Second Chance Offers to other bidders.

My advice is to not spend a lot of effort on getting paid or leave -ve feedback. You'll probably get a -ve if you do.

An alternative to waiting to file the complaint is to send the guy a message today saying if you don't hear from him by tomorrow, you'll send a second chance offer to your other bidders.

I wait and file the non-payment complaint. Often it turns out someone's account was hijacked but it doesn't sound like it in this case.
