Wow, 4 digits? I drive a lot though.. I got the car in January and I've put 11,000 miles on it.

gojira, you'll feel better after you hear this! Today for a loaner we got a Chevy Cobalt! Luckily, my mom is stuck driving it... I still can't believe that when you spend upwards of $40,000 on a car they stick you in a bargain-basement POS economy car when your car is in for service, etc.. Those little cars aren't even safe, and considering how many people buy BMWs for the safety features.... It could be worse... It could be a Hyundai...

Why Enterprise? Why not have a deal with Hertz, at least? Then they could put you in one of the cars from the Prestige collection... I'd rather be in an S60 or an X-Type than a Cobalt!

Yes, it does feel good! In the 4.4, it'd be closer to like 11 mpg at that speed, if I was lucky! It's a lot less painful at the pump.. But it's still not cheap! It has a pretty small tank, and it cost me about $37 to fill up yesterday... It's still better, though.. It was like $48 to fill the X5 back in January! And I still average 24 mpg or so. The 3er is running great! Other than the ignition coils (which failed less than a week after I got the car), I've had no major problems. I had to get a new windshield, and I broke one of the parts of the rear suspension, but other than that, nothing. I love it, but I still miss the X5.

Yep mine has 9200 miles on it. The 528 commutermobile gets most of the miles (a bit over 10,000 miles since last November)

Well, sorry to hear you (or your mom) got stuck with the loaner cars I usually get.

I don't really mind when they do it - I am happy to have a loaner - but what annoys me is the pre-sale stuff about getting a BMW loaner when your car is in the shop. If you can't do it all the time, don't harp on it in the sales phase. (OK rant over )

Nah, you think you do... when you weren't looking, mom switched keys with ya...

The Volvo comment reminds me... I test drove a Volvo V70 R a week or 2 ago. Nice creature comforts, but serious turbo lag and not enough power going to the rear wheels turned me off. The thing felt completely FWD in some heavy cornering manuevers. A minor gripe, but the motor sound bugs me too after the turbine-like I-6 in the 3 and 5.

I wondered how those drove... If it's anything like the XC70, it isn't that impressive! Our Volvo handles fine, but it leans a lot and I agree with you about too much power to the front wheels. I can squeal the tires on it, and I can't in the 330xi. I think the Volvo AWD system operates as FWD until wheelspin is detected.. I have a brochure on it somewhere, I'll have to dig it out.. And ours has turbo lag, too.. It's a pain passing/merging, especially combined with an automatic transmission.. There's a second or two of no power, then the turbo kicks in and the transmission sometimes downshifts.. And the engine sounds stupid.. It's hard to describe. I LOVE the engine in the 330xi.. Plenty of power and it sounds soooo good, especially between 3500-4500 rpm!
