Woot! Thanks for the details!
Top Gear is the ideal blend of comedy, wit, and car stuff. I was reading his review on the hideous Porsche Cayenne on Times Online and cracked up when he called the X5 the "most monumentally stupid car to ever turn a wheel".

First aired: 5/7/2006 Writer: Director: Brian Klein Guest star: Jimmy Carr (Himself), Rick Wakeman (Himself), Justin Hawkins (Himself), Trevor Eve (Himself), Alan Davies (Himself), Les Ferdinand (Himself), James Hewitt (Himself) Global rating: 9.4 They're back and it's business as usual with Jeremy testing Sweden's entry in the supercar market, the Koenigsegg CCX and Stig doing his best to kill himself in it. James drives the new Honda Civic and Richard is relegated to driving a most embarrassing convertible: the Nissan micra C+C - a pink Nissan micra C+C. The Renault Espace is turned into the world's first convertible people carrier by having its roof sawn off, a car wash catches fire and Top Gear Dog makes a début appearance. Finally, the new Reasonably Priced Car - a Chevrolet Lacetti gets its baptism of fire in a ménage ŕ sept . 68. Series 8 Episode 2 First aired: 5/14/2006 Writer: Director: Brian Klein Guest star: Gordon Ramsay (Himself) Global rating: 9.2 The Jaguar XK is driven by Jeremy through the spectacular scenery of the Yorkshire Dales. He didn’t like the fact that the car was made to a budget and felt ‘cheaply made’. He compared it to the BMW 650i and the Mercedes SL350. Despite his view that the German cars were better made, he still preferred the ‘less sophisticated’ Jaguar. He also drove the new Corvette Z06. Richard was in Iceland for a race against a jet-powered kayak - he drove the Tomcat 4x4. In Brighton, Jeremy, James and Richard took over a live drivetime radio programme on BBC Southern Counties Radio and were rubbish at it. They managed to annoy the listeners and the sports reporter (well done). Gordon Ramsay is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. 69. Series 8 Episode 3 First aired: 5/21/2006 Writer: Director: Brian Klein Guest star: Philip Glenister (Himself) Global rating: 9.7 Jeremy, James and Richard each design their own amphibious vehicle and test it on a Stafforshire reservoir. Jeremy has a Toyota Hilux, James a Triumph Herald with a sail and Richard has a Volkswagen camper van painted to resemble a canal boat. At least one of them is going to get very wet... The new Lotus Exige S is given the freedom of the Top Gear track and Philip Glenister is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. 70. Series 8 Episode 4 First aired: 5/28/2006 Writer: Director: Brian Klein Guest star: Ewan McGregor (Himself) Global rating: 8.8 The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is tested in Cyprus against of all things, a Red Devil: a member of the R.A.F.'s freefall parachute display team. With the help of an interior designer, Jeremy gives the Mercedes S Class a make-over with a rather unusual 'retro-look'. The new S Class is tested, the BMW Z4M shows what it can do on the Top Gear track as does the Koenigsegg CCX - this time with a new 'Top Gear' rear wing designed not to kill the Stig. Ewan McGregor is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. 71. Series 8 Episode 5 First aired: 6/4/2006 Writer: Director: Brian Klein Guest star: Michael Gambon (Himself), Sir Jackie Stewart (Himself) Global rating: 8.9 The Toyota Aygo takes on the VW Fox, not on the road, but on the football pitch. Jeremy takes the new Citroën C6 racing at Towcester and the Prodrive P2 supercar gets a thrash around the track. Captain Slow is given a lesson in fast driving by three-time Formula 1 world champion, Sir Jackie Stewart (who apparently isn't a woman) and Sir Michael Gambon is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. 72. Series 8 Episode 6 First aired: 7/16/2006 Writer: Director: Brian Klein Guest star: Brian Cox (Himself) Global rating: 9.5 A caravan on Top Gear never lasts the full hour; they are usually blown up, crushed or set alight pretty quickly. These options are available to the lads but not before the three of them take a caravanning holiday in Dorset. The Stig, with the Toyota F1 team, see how fast you can drive indoors and the Mazda 6 MPS, Mondeo ST220 and the Vauxhall VXR are tested. Brian Cox is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. 73. Series 8 Episode 7 First aired: 7/23/2006 Writer: Director: Brian Klein Guest star: Steve Coogan (Himself) Global rating: 9.0 Family cars feature this week - booo! Anyway, the Ford S-Max, Vauxhall Zafira VXR (don't laugh) and the Mercedes B200 Turbo. The word 'turbo' tells you that these aren't necessarily the cheapest, slowest family cars you can buy. The fast exotic car this week is the rather handsome Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. James races two parkour enthusiasts from the city centre of Liverpool to the Liver Building in the "rubbish" new Peugeot 207. The lads take on the Stig in a race this week: he/it has to drive a Caterham 7 from the factory in London, to Knockhill Racing Circuit in Scotland; the lads are already at the circuit but they have to build their car first. Steve Coogan is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. 74. Series 8 Episode 8 First aired: 7/30/2006 Writer: Director: Brian Klein Guest star: Jenson Button (Himself), Ray Winstone (Himself) Global rating: 9.1 White vans: a cultural icon of modern Britain, carriers of goods, fat men and England flags. The lads duly pay homage to this iconic vehicle this week when they get behind the wheel of their own vans to find out which it the best to drive, the easiest to steal and the fastest. All will be revealed and more, as they become bona-fide roadies for The Who. This should save the band from smashing their own instruments... Richard gets to drive the new Noble M15; the Rolls Royce 101 EX concept car is in the studio and Ray Winstone is the Cockney in a Reasonably Priced Car. Jenson Button also tries his luck around the track in the Liana. Will he manage to complete the lap? Should do as the Liana is undoubtedly more reliable than the Lucky Strike Honda. |
