Vacation Homes

Just returned from a few days in paradise! It was great.
I'm wondering how many of you have vacation homes...select yes or no, and if yes, say where!

I'll start:

outside of San Diego, CA. (partial/fractional ownership, with hotel resort services) Always sunny, great weather!

Well, actually we have 2 "vacation homes": we have a house in the
mtns of far western NC and our FLA starter shack house in Naples, FL.

Since we are on "vacay" 24/7, 365 days a year, I guess it's
2 vacay homes, lol!

Not working anymore is highly rec'd!

We don't have one, mainly because our house is surrounded by about 30 acres of fields, then forest for about a mile radius in every direction.. It's not exactl a hectic lifestyle .. My parents have always talked about getting one, though. First they wanted one in Maine.. Then they thought about one in the Caribbean, but they are all expensive, hard to get to, and expensive to maintain and insure.. They're now thinking of getting one in Florida, near where I'll be going to college...

So is your NC house near where Tiger's new course will be? I think it is near Asheville.

I read that it will be walking only... the way golf was meant to be played, IMO

Next time you're in the area PM me and I will show you ours on Del Mar beach. We also have a place in Rancho Mirage and our main residence in San Diego. They are family vacation homes, everyone gets to enjoy them at the same time or individually. We also belong to Exclusive Resorts which has over 300 homes around the world... life is good when on vacation!

OT...H, we are 40ish mins west from where his new track will be. The local news
made it sound like the aliens had landed and one could play there next week, per
the usual bad reporting here, lol!

I am quite familiar with the "Cliffs Communities" as we were close to doing
a spec house build at the Cliffs of Walnut Cove with a builder/partner...
what I don't get is that the "target customer" for the various Cliffs' developments
are big buck 40s to 60s go getters or retired bums like me, albeit with a bigger purse;
thus, the "avg" interested party, who plunks down $300Gs+ for a lot and another
$1 Mill on up, for a new seasonal house is not the audience for "walking" with any
regularity. I could be wrong, but...

NEway, I played Walnut Cove, tough and long, and theCEO chased it
on the Cliffs of Glassy in SC. It will be interesting to see how that
new noveau riche community develops as the big buck golf club cum
big house development craze has finally struck here in western NC; there
are dozens to choose from. HiJack over, ...

Yeah, I definitely see a trend towards carts at our club. Even the teenagers who don't look old enough to drive take'm out. OTOH, there's a group that I sometimes play with where two are 83, one 79 and one 91 and only the oldest one rides.

I think you're right about the $1m+ vacation home types not being the walking type. Maybe you'll need to pass a health and mental fitness test to buy a lot
