Two units do this the LG super Multi blu player and a new unit by either Toshiba or Samsung slated to be released around CES time this year

Well, I'll just go get the regular DVD if it doesn't come in Blu-ray as the PS3 is an upconverter now.... Although not as good it'll still be better than regular DVD w/o the upconversion.

Indeed. At least MS is providing a 3-year warranty on them, up from 90 days

The fear of the TRoD and the DVD/fan noise are the two downsides to the XBOX 360 for me.

I'm going to wait until they get the 65 nm chips in later this year before buying a new console with HDMI.

IF Blu-Ray wants to win, they have to lower the price. HD-DVD is winning because it is cheaper (it is ALL HD for the usual folks you see BLU-RAY or HD-DVD) and needs to have the equal number of movies in that format if not. If another price cut does not happen anytime soon, Blu_Ray will fizzle out.

Here we go again. I'm an original Betamax owner and I'm not going thru this again. No more DVDs for me untill the dust settles. It was bad enough buying VHS version of the Betamax movies I loved watching, then buying DVDs to replace the VHS. Wake me up after it's all over with.

You've got that right...Beta was light years better than VHS. Consumers don't know sheit. I'm waiting until a clear victor is announced because of my past experience as well. I'm usually an early adopter and on the bleeding edge of technology but I've learned my lesson on that tape fiasco.

Why do you guys care about which format "wins" if DVD players can handle both blue ray and HD DVD?
