Thanks for the wishes everyone.. And no worries, I'm not going anywhere. This board is way too addictive and you're all my budz !!!

And my guess is, in 24 months from now, I'll be back in a X5 anyway.. A bi-turbo V8

Barry, yes, I will tint the windows. Nothing too drastic. Probably 35% all around. Other than that, the only mod i'm planning is a Valentine 1 hardwire.

It's a lot different from driving the X. The X really feels like a sports car that sits up high. The 7, feels like a big, comfortable, plush sedan. Even with the sports pack, you still know you're driving the big BMW flagship.
But that's ok with me for two years, it's a nice excuse to slow down.

I do wish the car was always set to Sport mode instead of normal though, even though it's got power, it's sluggish if you don't lead foot it, esp if it's not in S mode.

The Idrive is a novelty. I use it cause you have to but definately doesn't add anything to the car. It's not a deal breaker, but not a reason to buy either.

I do really like the little phone keypad that pops out of the dash. It's easy to use and smartly designed. The two push out draws in the dash are cool, but wish they were just a bit bigger so they could accomodate my sunglasses, which don't fit.

The vented seats are a must have, and the tushie massager is nice too. I just wish the rollers went up my back and didn't just focus on the (_!_)

The Nav screen is a little small, but it passes as well.

The gear change lever is also a bit weird, I would have lost the idrive system and kept a traditional shifter on the floor. something about pressing a button to go into park seems weird to me.

The voice activation system seems to be a little clunky and weird.. Definately not intuitive. Need to learn how to use it better.

And the books and manuals that came with the car do not fit in the glove box. How weird is that? I had to put it in the rear arm rest.. They should have either made the glove box larger or the manuals smaller.

The car, especially in white, really seems to draw attention. Not that I bought it to say, "hey, look at me".. that's not my style. But I liked the class of a big white sedan. It is definately the right color choice for this car IMHO. Besides, I'm a little tired of owning all silver or grey cars.

I really do like it, even though it's very different from what I'm used to.

I'll keep everyone posted.
B

Nice ride, B! You gotta keep us posted after you sling that thing around a track.

Seriously, give us your driving impressions after you've had some time behind the wheel.

Glad you'll still be hanging around...

VERY classy mate... A few years ago on the M5 release the very first car I got to fling around the race track was a 750... I was amazed at its agility and handling, together with its' speed.

I agree, it's very much the cruiser. The seats reminded me of a comfy lounge.

Cheers.....

Beautiful ride, Seth!

Heck, I've been X-less for more than a year, now!

Congrats on the 7, B. Alot of us here probably have bought Bimmers of other colors, then later regretted not buying Alpine white. There's something special about white Bimmers...

If you're going to keep those wheels, I'd swap out the brake pads real quick. Like Josh says, those wheels are going to be a bitch to clean.

I was an iDrive hater before I bought an iDrive equipped vehicle, now I'm a proponent. I now understand the design intent and I'm more willing to live with its nuances. The voice system has not been a problem; voice recognition works very well. I've pretty much learned all the keywords for the functions I use the most.

My biggest gripe with the newer Bimmers - the damn push to activate turn signals. For me, it's been a bitch trying to unlearn a behavior that I've developed over 39 years.

Good luck with the new ride and congrats once again.
