Question palm springs- suggestions?

Hey everyone-

So I'm about to do palm springs this sat-mon with my gf. We've never been before- what's to do?

We're staying at the highly rated Hotel Zoso right in the heart of Palm Springs.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

Shops and Dinning = El Paseo in Palm Desert.
Lunch and Movies = The River in Rancho Mirage.

It's gonna be blazing hot in the desert, you might want to spend most of your time indoors. Have fun and drink lots of water.

Agree with the River and El Paseo.

It will be nice at night....There is LG's Steakhouse (I personally like it better than the Falls Steakhouse or Chop House) on Palm Canyon Road really close to Hotel Zoso. You have get their Ceasar Salad for Two!! All their steaks are awesome!!

Take the Palm Springs Tram up to mountains to escape the heat. Usually about 30 degrees cooler than Palm Springs (you may even need a sweater). http://www.pstramway.com/

There is a small Regal Cinema right down the street from your hotel on Tahquitz Canyon Way.

Also, go to Palm Desert and check out the Marriot in Palm Desert on Country Club Drive. It cool to walk around there.

There is always golf!

Check out La Quinta as well....

The Living Zoo in Palm Desert as well.

Maybe PNG can give more suggestions....

oh hey: is it stupid to be driving in such heat with a convertible? the top will NOT be down obviously, but just wondering how bad a convertible is at isolating you from the heat. again, it's the E46 M3 vert. and on another note, will it handle the heat ok? i do NOT want to get stuck with an overheating car in the desert!! i suppose we could take my gf's ML350 if we needed to.

Honestly dude, Palm Springs with the g/f = sex, room service, laying out poolside, and more sex. Plan accordingly.

Palm Springs is going to be HOT this weekend. The wind you'll get with the top down is going to be hot wind as well, so keep that in mind.

First suggestion. Find another hotel.
That place has nice rooms but that's it. And the rooms are truly only average. The pool is puddle in the middle of cement and a hundred or so chairs. At least there won't be too many people there.

I was just there last weekend. The temp was perfect, in fact a little cool for this time of year. I think it maybe hit 105 one day. But the humidity was in the high 80% range. Felt more like Florida than California.

As far as things to do. Depends on what you're into. On a recent trip the GF and I took the tram up then hiked to the top of the mountain and back
Takes all day and it a hell of an uphill walk but well worth the effort if you're into that kind of stuff.

Hey everyone-

Just wanted to thank you all for the suggestions- the tram especially was ASTONISHINGLY AMAZING. Unfortunately, we forgot -- ran out of time? -- to see the Living Zoo which i hugely regret

The weather was unbelievable -- unbelievably HOT that is ... at night time it never got below 97. It's AMAZING how the body aclimatizes (sp?) though: we began to feel "comfortable" around 97-100*, and on Monday when we returned to LA via Lake Arrowhead and the temps dipped into the mid- to high-80s, we felt the weather was "perfect" whereas ordinarily we'd feel uncomforatble in the 80s lol.

Anyway, you were right about that hotel: the decoration was nice, the room (we had deluxe) was definitely very nice (THE greatest bed we've EVER experienced?!?!), but yeah, the pool was just a murky puddle from the countless people in it, and all the sunblock/sweat/whoknowswhatelse getting in the water. My gf made the grotesque/morbid joke asking whether we should get tested for HIV after being in that water with all those people lol. Ew.

All said, we loved PS. Definitely in some ways more our scene than Vegas. More relaxing, more -- for lack of better words -- quaint and charming. Honestly no where near as upscale as I was expecting (I pictured a place like Old Town Pasadena perhaps?) but very very pleasant.

Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Also, I should say, I don't know whether I thanked you guys re: my recent trip to Greece! It was a great end to the summer.

Next stop: Dubai in December/January?
