P-car or another BMW???

My wife is ready for a new car. She has lamented the loss of her sporty car (RX7), that had to be replaced with a "sensible" car with the birth of our son 13 years ago. However, now she is ready to move back to something sportier. Timing, mid-life crisis, whatever, I am all for it! Right now, she has a MB E320, and I am ruling out another MB (because the quality seems to have declined in recent years, and the local dealer's service is horrible lately).

We test drove a Porsche Cayman S the other day, and she loves the look of the Targa 4, as well. She can't quite decide if she can realistically move all the way away from a car with back seats, though, what with the occasional kid's friends in the car. I have graciously volunteered to lend her my X5 on those occasions. She also loves the look of the BMW 6 series, but we haven't taken time to drive one of those yet.

Advice? Sarcastic comments? Suggestions?

The 6-series is facelifted this year, so I'd check it out. There's nothing wrong with a used E46 M3 either . Or for the best of both worlds, get a 330i ZHP.

You just love E46 M3 to death.

Z4 ///M coupe and 6 series are good options if you want to stay with BMW. 6-series will probably be more practical for her in case you need the back seat. Cayman is also a nice car.

And X6 is also an option if she likes high seating position and coupe like driving.

that's a big price gap you're looking at.. What do you want to spend or is $$ no object?

We can afford the more expensive one, if we need to.

It's pretty damn cool that your wife drove an RX7. How about an E92 M3 or 335i if she needs back seats? Another fantastic option to look at would be an RS4.

how about AMV8, Maserati Gran Turismo among some of the considerations. Lots of options when you get into Targa 4 $ range.

We live in an area that is not the most cosmopolitan, if you know what I mean. While we could buy certain cars by getting someone to import them, the options for service would be weak. We realistically need to limit ourselves.
