That depends. Debadging an entry level model (320) after putting on all the trim from a top level model (M3) is the same as posing.
so your saying debaging a 550 with aerodynamic kit would what?? M wannabe,,,,, or just clean shaven?

I'm saying a 550 is not an entry level model.

I have seen few X5s where they debadged after putting 4.8is exhaust and bumpers, 20" wheels. Imagine a kid in modded Acura Integra challenging a X5 3.0 dressed up as 4.8is at a traffic signal.

I do not like this phenomenon either. I just saw an Imola Red E53 4.6is with an ///M badge. Here is an attached picture of a base 3.0 with 4.6is badges that I saw at my dealer. The guy should be shot.

I have a friend who has a very, very nice '04 3.0 with Style 177 wheels and BMW Aero Kit but he added 4.8is badges too. Shame.

Check out this thread for the ultimate in wannabe delusions.

I just don't get it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a nicely modded 3.0 or 320 or 525 or whatever. Debadging it just points out that the owner has insecurities about it - IMHO.

Different folks got different strokes. I debagged my E53 on the side because the 3.0i was beginning to discolor not due to insecurities. If I did that to my 07 335i and 07 3.0i E70, will that still be insecure? I just ordered a new 550 just because I think its a fun car. Point is debadging in not=insecurities/being retards.IMO

If you think rebadging is bad, see what happens when it's taken to the next level:
