Iraq is actually further from that goal now than they were in February 2003, a month before the invasion. Back then they had the stability and economic parts down, and only the political part was wrong. Now all 3 parts are upsidedown. If we continue on the current course, maybe by January 2009 there will no longer be a country of Iraq.

I really find the concept that we could win to so far fetched that it is incredible that you have the nerve to call my question stupid.

It's really up to the Iraqi people at this point. Sectarian violence is way down and the trend has been in the right direction with local people taking charge of their streets and neighborhoods.

If you asked the average person on the street back in 1775 if the concept of beating back the British was realistic you would have heard the same skepticism and doubt you're preaching.

I'm sure glad the American Patriots kept fighting even in the face of overwhelming odds.

Plenty like you surrendered after the first salvo.

Our military is not allowing it to be up to the Iraqi people. If it were up to the Iraqi people, our military would have been out on their ass 3 years ago and the current Iraqi government would be history.

No, right now it is up to the US military and the puppet government they have in Baghdad. That is why the insurgency exists.

But I agree that it SHOULD be up to the Iraqi people.

Wrong question. The question should be:

so what is better for the Iraqi people?

The Shah, Pinochet, Duvalier, Bautista, Marcos, etc. Yes, we all know what a US puppet government looks like. Massive oppression, poverty, and martial law.
