Apple has a much more limited chosie you go from a 13 inch model to the $2,000 15 inch model. With Thinkpad you have many more options so its hard to do a dirrect compare.
Here is another spec, still costs far less. You two realize this is akin to a chicken/egg argument, right?
(Or a rebound/Eric5273 argument... )

I think both Apple and Thinkpad are good computers.
The problems with the Vista operating system actually make the Apple more desirable at this time. I do think that your choises for Apple are more limited you go from a 13 inch model for about $1,000 to a 15 inch model for about $2,000. My 15 inch Thinkpad is not a powerful as the Apple or a top end Thinkpad however for Word and Excel it has more than enough power. In the end you can't go wrong with ether one (as long as you avoid Vista). |

Mr.Blue
How can you avoid Vista or Windows of any kind for that matter if you buy a Thinkpad? Use your head Blue............... Nobody is saying a Think pad isn't a good computer if you wish to run Windows. The point is if you are someone who want's to get stuff done without a lot of trouble ect, Forget about Windows and give OSX a try. That's what this thread is all about. Don't have a Mac then fine you won't be interested in OSX and that's fine also. If you want to keep from hijacking the thread with hardware discussions why not argue Operating systems. By doing so you might have a leg to stand on.

I wouldn't say a THINKPAD is any better then any other Windows based laptop. You can load it with ram and drive space, like all others, only difference would be in the dollars.
As for Vista, I got it when it first came out (posted info on it here) it then proceeded to make my HP inoperable. Not until a few days ago when I did a reinstall with 75M (yes MB) of updates. At that point, it has worked. So as I said in another thread, Windows is 80% done when they release it on the world. It is hard to say which is better when you don't have both. I have both, I'd say Windows if you want something very good for little money and don't mind updating constantly, viruses, loading drivers and some incompatibility. Where as with Apple you pay substantially more for a substantially less accident prone system. Not to mention Apple and the Internet act as if they were built together and drivers....what drivers?
