The Japanese are very good at copying the Germans and Italians in making go fast cars but they are still light years away from bulding cars that have the driving feel and soul of their European counterparts.

Actually their were many Euro super cars built way before the Japanese even took an interest in building cars that could sprint not crawl:
1931 Maserati Zagato Spyder 1937 Auto Union Type C (16 Cylinder) ...these don't even include the Jags, Porches, Ferraris, Mercedes, Bugattis of the 1950s, 1960s and so on... |

I think his point was that the NSX was the cornerstone of modern composite frame/body structured, mid-engine, super coupe that wasn't 6 figures deep or carrying a Porsche logo. The NSX styling was a huge turning point when it was introduced...remember what it was competing with: Porsche, S4, M3 of that time.

In that case I would have went with the Evo E30 M3...a much better can IMO. I have driven the 1st generation NSX and though it was nothing special.

Just showing the NSX was a trend setter for sure, that is not debatable IMO. Choice for the M3 is personal opinion, back then..I'd have taken the NSX.

Corvettes were crap back then. They didn't really become useful for anything other than drag racing until the C5. |
