If a manufacturer gives them a substandard notebook to test, then that is just stupidity.

Uh huh right. meanwhile everybody else on the planet is complaining how Microsoft made their own OS to slow and it has way too many "compatibly" issues? That aint the sound of Mac users you hear complaining. No PC basher here. Don't need to be, don't want to be.

It just seems to me that If it runs faster on your PC then say so but from what i"m hearing that just aint the case.........

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D052; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320)

Some like the X5 3.0i, 4.4i, or 4.8is....listen, technology changes so fast--Now there is a PC laptop that runs Vista faster than the Mac Book Pro, then next month or so Apple will come out with a faster MBP, etc. However, overall, Mac OS X is a much more stable platform, but not perfect either. Can't wait to get my MacPro!!

I think the idea was, a PC should run Vista faster, the fact that a Mac did it is awesome!

1. Why would anyone buy $3k MacBook to run (mostly) Vista?
The key locations are not optimized for running Windows. I don't get the point from my (non-marketing person) perspective.

2. Why is running what OS on your PC so personal and even emotional issues to you guys? Even some of you here denies but I know you do...

I got a MacBook running XP(for propriety SW runs only on Windows) for my front desk ladies only because they look good with interior. Later, they complained and I had to take it back. Why? Bragging rights?

So what? A SUN X4100 runs Windows Server2003 faster than some other tradtional x86 based servers like HP or IBM. What I can guarantee you is that Microsoft is making drivers for the more traditional manufacturers before they do for SUN HW and when supporting that in a corporate environment I'll use the more traditional hw manufacturers to keep the environment as stable as possible, it's the same issue with PC's and laptops.

Regarding mac vs pc on this site, you guys really need to relax about the constant back and forth, buy what you like and stop trying to force everyone over to your side of the fan-boy fence. Who gives a shiznit what manufacturer makes your PC, for cryin' out loud it's just a friggin PC.

I really don't want to respond to this thread any more but, as I pointed out, this is a misleading statement and another misuse of a statistic.

The MacBook Pro ran Vista faster than any other Vista laptop that PC World had tested up to that point. The primary reason is that the MacBook Pro was the fastest laptop that PC World had tested. Since then, it has been easily beaten in tests...

After all, why wouldn't the fastest laptop, at the time, with Intel Core 2 Duo processor run Windows Vista faster than normal Intel-based laptops? I would say there would be something wrong with the MacBook Pro if it didn't score reasonably well. Windows Vista is designed to be compatible with vast numbers of hardware components out there...
