I prefer XM as no love for Howard. If you have nav in your X5 then Sirius is your choice if you don't wanna do lot of mods. But XM can also be fitted.

Fingers crossed X Just look at the price of Sirius stock and then look at the stock price for XM. I purchased a bunch at bottom and I'm hoping to cash in with a buyout.

Soon, it may not matter. They're in talks to merge. Their biggest obstacle is government approval.

I've had both and like both. i would give a slight edge to Sirius because of the NFL sports. I too like the Blues and Jazz stations. Also like Spa for early morning long drives with the kids. It calms them down.

May be a while on this merger. I like XM best. Just get a "Terk Commander" unit off Ebay. Get a Blitzsafe adapter from their website. Takes about 45 min. I did it in my 2003 X5.
Hint, "Sirius" will always come up on the readout 'cause BMW has the car set for them. Ignore it.
Also a company "Soundgate", makes adaters also.

I have had both....... XM in a Yukon and Sirius in our X3. The reception was leaps and bounds better with XM. It probably depends on the area you live and travel but here in Houston XM has a ground based towers that provide excellent coverage in and around objects that block the satellite. The Sirius cuts out when you go under overpasses some streets with trees on it block the signal............ If I had it to do over again I would have put XM in the X3.

that's because Xm has better ground antennas/repeaters than Sirius.

I have XM only because I wanted Opie and Anthony.

You should go online and compare the line-up to see what suits you.

Like others have said, it may not matter if the two actually get approval to combine.
