I ended up with Harmony 890 with RF extender. The RTI etc need a week of training to program. Universal is also not bad. Harmony 1000 is also going for good price these days.

I found this product for a good friend of mine who does not have a firm grasp on electronics. I figured if I went with some of the learning remotes on the market I'd be over there every time he needed to change the channel or add a component.

I was skeptical at first but when they came and I hooked everything up it worked like a charm. Best thing is he was able to use the comcast remote he and his family had been using all along. If he wants to add his stereo I can get him a simple learning remote of any brand and make the RF work.

It works on the principal that every remote produces a tiny RF signal when sending an IR command. This uses a small RF amplifier which goes in the battery compartment and sends the signal to the small space ship device installed in the cabinet with the components. So it basically makes any remote a RF remote.

I personally use a Home Theater Master MX-700 which is programed using my computer. It is not RF but I'm going to get one of these systems and add the RF capability.
