RF universal remote recos

In the market for RF univ remote and need some recos. Logitech has a limited selection. I will be using it to control devices in my media closet on different floor and therefore there will be no line-of-sight.

I bought a Nexxtech RF repeater for $30, and use all my regular controls. There is a very small receiver next to the TV/DVD/Digital Cable boxes, and a repeater in the media cabinet with the whole-house audio system. Works great. Quick and dirty.

I use the 890 and think it is great. It passes the family test...we have 6 people in my house from ages 7 to 45. It works easily for all and controls all devices. These best part is it works the way people think ("I wanna watch TV, I wanna watch a DVD, I wanna listen to iTunes") Very cool.

Thanks. Any issues with the range? I will be using from the floor above the devices.

I'm still using an old philips pronto. Still works fine although a little dated.

I don't know if your a directv customer but the new dvr's all have RF options on their remotes..

I have bought several universal remotes and I ultimately feel, they all suck. They are a pain to program, they are a pain to use and they are not smooth, they are clunky, if you understand what I mean..

I do however think that the DVR remotes that come from directv are actually the best tool for recording material, etc.

The range works fine, but if you are worried about going through the floor, have you considered routing the IR via wire? That also works well.
