sounds like a format issue, probably need to change the output settings on the box it might be set to a progressive scan instead of interlaced (i.e. make sure it's in 480i and not 480p or 720p/1080i)

For those with DTV....how's the PQ these days.
Seems okay across the board

I had DTV about 6-7 years ago for about 2 years. But they started too much compression on all the channels that the PQ sucked. I switched and never looked back.

I'm moving over to new digs though...and am looking considering switching to DTV. From the time I've switched to today....they appear to have more birds up in the air though. And from all the sources I've looked at, the PQ seems comparable in HD quality to my current cable provider.

An HD box will output SD to an SD tv over composite if set up correctly. Make sure the box is setup correctly.
I'll check again, but yes, R,Y,W.

PQ is actually even better now. They have added new satellites and lot more HD channels and more coming.

Mike, there's no problem. In Menu>Setting>Setup>HDTV, there are three tabs. The first one set whether your tv is 16:9 or 4:3. Then the tab farthest to the right should allow you to select the resolutions your tv is capable of. That should fix your problem.

Thx Vin. I'll try it.
