Question Beginners + Mac

I will be taking possession of a Mac in a week or two. I was just wondering if there are any sites geared for people like myself.

I don't know that there are any "beginner" sites, but you can check out the following sites:

- Apple's own "switch" site
- Great forums at Mac Addict
- Ditto for Macworld
- Apple's OS X Download site
- OS X Hints has a lot of info, though it can be esoteric at times.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, or if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

Juan

What kind of Mac are you getting??

Try this

http://discussions.info.apple.com/we...ust0a6kn5ph.0@

This is about the best i've seen for beginners because it covers advice on everything. Make sure you sign up password and all. Apple uses this to reduce their online help and the answers to your questions come quickly. iPacmm is correct about the Apple store. What a wealth of information from classes that are free and informative. Get aquainted with others who have Macs ( including myself of course) and you will quickly be on you way.

Cant wait to hear how it's going.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I will be getting a 12" Powerbook with Superdrive. I am sure the bulk of my questions will arise when I actually start using, but I just wanted to learn the basics before I start using it as I have never had experience with a Mac OS before.

If you have quicktime check this out. It's the first 3 chapters of VDC.
They are tutorial movies of the basic OS functions. These should play
on your PC. Let me know if it works.

I wouldn't worry too much about learning things - it's just not that difficult. I don't know what you're coming from, but it much easier to use and understand than a windows-based computer (in my opinion). I'd subscribe to a pod-cast like macworld radio, look around on macworld.com maybe, that kind of stuff. Oh, and good luck and welcome aboard!
