Wife lost her ring!!!!
she was putting on lotion and said she dropped the ring on the driver side somewhere and she heard it clang off the metal railings. after hours of both of us looking everywhere (under both seats several times), we still can't find it. lucky we have insurance on it but anyone have a clue of where else to look?

wow I'm really sorry, it's a good thing you have insurance but money doesn't mean anything when it comes to the sentimental value

Down by or behind the gas pedal pivot?
Under one of the seat rail mounts...etc. If you are certain it is in the car, I'd give it a fresh going over in the morning, or when lots of sunshine is coming in. If it's there, it will turn up... Good Luck, mD |

Well if it didn't fall out when she opened the door, it must still be in there.
If your adventurous, it might be worth to pull the seat out if you still cant find it. Good luck

this all happened Monday aternoon and I looked Tue morning but still nothing. we keep the X pretty clean so I can see everything under the seats. not sure I want to try to take out the seats with all the mechanical stuff underneath.
anyone know if there's anything magnetic underneath? although I'm not sure if the ring can actually stick to anything

Search within the seat, between the the cushion an the plastic trim.

P, I think I'd hold off on the seat removal and just keep poking and
digging. Things like that have a knack for creeping down into some nook or cranny. If it's in there, it's findable, imo. Be patient and try to look "outside the box". GL,mD |

Many years ago when I had a Z3, I once dropped a pocket full of change in between the drivers seat and the center console. Apparently some of it went into a seam where one piece of carpet ended and another one began. For the next 2 months, whenever I would go around a turn, I would hear change slide along the metal floor under the carpet. It finally drove me nuts, so I had to pay the dealship to pull the seat out and remove the carpet so they could get the change out of there.

this is where having a dyson vaccum comes in handy. Maybe you can run a vaccum cleaner hose around under the seat?

I agree with MD. Look on the rails the seat slides on. It could me in the middle. Also the little carpet openings/joints around the seat legs under the seat is another place it can easily disappear.
If all does not work than pulling the seat out may not be a bad idea and I believe there is a DIY for that somewhere here. |
