Cool Young Frankenstein The Musical

I got tickets for Young Frankenstein as a Christmas gift. I'm going the end of the month during the week. The theater is on 42nd between 7th and 8th. I'm looking for recommendations for a good restaurant close by for an early dinner before the show.

Woof

TIA

User Reviews for West Bank Cafe
Filthy Dirty WITH VERY RUDE SERVERS
1 Star Rating: Not Recommended

03/28/2007 Posted by debh456

West Bank Cafe is a dive near the LIncoln Tunnel. The food is way overpriced , the portions are exceedingly small and the service is deplorable. ( Nouvelle cuisine went out in the late 80s.) ! We dined there on Saturday night with the pre theatre crowd (mostly geriatrics) and we noticed a huge rodent crawling around the dining room. The manager on duty did absolutely nothing about it. Needless to say, we decided to leave and as we did there was a very nice local couple walking by . They noticed we were frantic about the rodent , and they informed us that the same thing happened to them at this establishment a couple of months before. We were appalled ! If there are rodents in their dining room...whats in their kitchen ? ,,,. I would definitely stay away from The Wesr Bank Cafe.. .Its a very filthy place

Pros: NONE

Cons: MANY

Can't help you with the restaurant picks, but I saw this show in Seattle last September during their pre-opening trial. It's a frickin' SCREAM! You're going to love it. If the cast is the same as it was out here, you're in for a great evening.

Have fun!

Dave

Dave - I'll give you guys my full review. I can't wait! I'm assuming you saw the movie and you're not like some of the youngins around here that have no clue

Gresch - Thanks, the place looks nice, I'll check it out.

Carmine's?

Right near the theater district. Wife and I did that last fall before the fat lady sang (opera at the Met) Be warned, HUGE portions, one menu item serves at least two, probably 3.

It's been years but I've been there. Thanks Pete

LOL! Yes, I definitely saw the movie. In the theater, during it's original run, actually. That was where I first discovered Mel Brooks. I've been a fan ever since.

The play follows the film pretty closely, so we watched the DVD a day or two before seeing the play, so things would be fresh in our minds. It was great.

The Gene Wilder part is played incredibly well by the guy on Desperate Housewives who was Bree's crazy Pharmacist husband. He's fantastic, and has a long history as one of Mel Brooks' stable of actors.

Megan Mulally shows why she was so great on Will & Grace, but best of all, watch out for Andrea Martin as Frau Blueker. (Do I hear horses neighing?) She practically steals the show.

Get excited about going - the show is great fun. I look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Dave

I am excited about going, more so now hearing that you saw the movie and still thought the show was great. I was afraid it would lose something. It's two weeks from today
