When you've screwed up something for 7 years...

why not capitalize on it.

The usual formula here:

1) cut all kinds of social programs
2) cut the education and health care budgets
3) cut spending on infrastructure
4) take all that money, plus some more, and add it to the military budget

60% of revenue goes to entitlement programs (SS/Medicare/etc)
20% goes to military spending, fine by me

Are you kidding? Where in the world did you find those numbers?

Here is the pie chart for budget year 2005. In the 2 years since 2005, the military has gone up while the others have gone down.

Ahh...I just realized. For your information, social security and medicare are not part of the budget. The president has no power over those items, and they are not included in the budget he sends to congress, nor is general tax revenue collected by the IRS used to pay for them. Both of them have their own seperate funds. The president and congress control discretionary spending, and above you see what it looked like 2 years ago. This year it is even more lobsided. In addition, the budgets for the intelligence agencies are not reflected in the Pentagon's portion of the budget. They are instead hidden in the budget areas of other agencies, thus making the military portion even higher than what it appears to be. Most estimates put intelligence spending at around $40-50 billion per year, thus increasing the Pentagon's budget by another 8-10%.

That is to counter-balance the fact that the president hasn't got any intelligence.
