Ford recalls 180,000 vehicles

Ford has announced two separate recalls impacting 180,000 vehicles. The largest recall involves 124,000 2007-2008 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. The recall is due to a faulty spring system in the door handle that could fail. While no accidents or injuries have been reported due to the problem, the defect could cause the doors to open in a side impact.

The second recall involves 57,000 2006-2007 E-series vans and Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators equipped with a 5.4L V8. According to Ford, the vehicles' fuel rail crossover hose could crack, leading to a fuel leak and possibly fire. Despite the severity of the recall, no accidents or injuries have been reported.

The recalls will begin later this month and continue into March.

Already had it, how are your window regulators?

window regulators are fine. Never a reported problem with them on my particular model.

So what are the symptoms you are dealing w/ on the 6?

"BMW is recalling 60,000 X3s built between 9/2006 and 11/2007 for possible faulty transmission software programming. This affects X3s equipped with the 6-speed automatic gearbox. The gearbox may fail to respond to throttle inputs, fail to engage a lower gear, or snap passengers' necks upon downshifting in Drive or Sport Drive modes. No accidents have been recorded yet (or have there?) due to the failure, but owners are advised to drive in manual mode or stop driving the vehicle entirely, and bring the vehicle in to a dealership where the new software will be uploaded."
Safety and Emissions categories. Same rules for all. Unless the manufacturers want to spend money on purported, possible, driver/passenger comfort issues

Some may read your post and think this is a real recall, not a joke. I think X3 owners were advised to get the latest X3 transmission software installed if they noticed a problem. Problem solved.

Lets see, the iDrive freezes at random, forgets how to use the Nav, forgets how to use an iPod, forgets how to use BT. Randomly stops the auto windows and sunroof...a general cluster f--k.

I've never owned a car, aside from my 350Z that didn't have issues. I'm always amazed when people unload a car because of what they feel are a large number of problems. Unless the drive train stops working, you're alright

Quick list (for fun)

2003 M3: weatherstripping fell off both doors, burn marks from heated seats on Nappa leather.

2004 X5 4.4: window regulators replaced, side mirror motor died, brake calipers seized, transmission failed (all well under 50K on the car).

2000 996: replaced expansion tank

2004 350Z: nothing

2006 Mustang GT: differential bushing.

2004 545 (now a friend owns it): trim cracked, leather in rear seats pulled away, had full back seat replaced, passenger seat replaced, active steering failed, CD player had to be replaced, active steering module problem.

2004 645: both window seals, all interior trim, DVD drive, and now the ECU

2008 Expedition: door handle, interior. one trim piece on the door.
