Toshiba to exit HD DVD, end format war
 http://www.reuters.com/article/marke...0080216?rpc=44 Toshiba is expected to suffer losses amounting to tens of billions of yen (hundreds of millions of dollars) to scrap production of HD DVD players and recorders and other steps to exit the business, Japan's NHK said on its website.

I guess that was a long time coming. I had heard that Worst Buy (Best Buy to some.
 ) had announced plans to stop carrying anythin HD-DVD a week or two ago.I admit to owning a Toshiba HD-DVD player but luckily for me, it was a pre-Black Friday deal at $98 so if nothing else, I got an upscaling DVD player. Plus, I think I can pick some HD-DVD movies pretty cheap soon.  I feel sorry for those who plunked down $300 or $400 for one.
