Angry Looks like I just got f*cked.

Yesterday i get waived down by this guy in a tahoe saying he does dentless repair work. He has a sign on his truck and everything so it looked legit.
We agreed for him to take all the dents (7-8) for $250.

No later than 30 min later he says hes done. I go out to look at the car and there is this black shit on all the dents, looks like a bubbley wax. He says its a clear coat that masks the scratches and it has to stay on for 24 hours.

This morning i rub the wax off and every single dent and scratch is still there.

All I have is this guys phone number. I called him this morning, and he said he was going to call me back but still have not heard from him.

Any ideas on how i should handle this?
FUCK

Yeah, you got scammed. I suppose he didnt offer a receipt either right? Did you happen to get his plates? although i doubt much can be done without a receipt. Sucks for sure. Just like the time my father-in law came home with a camcorder box filled with a big rock! The scammer had a REAL camcorder in his hand and showed it off. WHen my F-I-L agreed on a price he said he'd put it in the box for him that he had in his car. He returned with a heavy box that my F-I-L assumed had the camcorder in it because of the weight...until he got home and opened it. Fucking scammers. Too lazy to get a real job, so they prey on innocent hard working ppl just trying to save a few bucks. Maybe you can drive around the area where u met him and try to catch him in the act. Take his plate down and call the cops? thats what i would do. Sorry about that man. I know your pissed. Good luck, man.

Just notice you have his phone #. Go to the cops with it. Maybe they can trace it to himand get his name and address off the phone account. worth a try at least!

Call your local TV station's "Consumer Action" people. Those bulldogs LOVE stuff like this. If it happened to you, who else got scammed? They can probably get the guy arrested, and press charges for fraud or whatever.

Sorry you got ripped off. Good luck!

Dave

Man that really sucks...I feel for ya man...I doubt this guy will frequent that same area again. As far as the cell phone goes..well, not a lot of luck there either. The cops wont do anything without a receipt or some proof that this actually happened. Sorry to hear this happened.

Sorry to hear. It sucks to be scammed but that's pretty funny!
I have never heard of that one.
Reminded me of a bracelet I bought by the port
authority bus terminal in NYC for $100.00 (20 yrs ago) I gave it to my girlfiriend and her wrist turned green. He even showed by where it was stamped 18K.

E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
Sorry to hear about your hard luck.

I hope he did not screw-up the finish any more?

At $250, it could of been worst and over time it will hurt less.

I'm not laughing out you or the others getting scammed.

Thats a good one and these guys are pretty creative. I was imagining the look on my face if it happened to me after scrapping the wax off.

Didn't mean to offend
