I'm surprised nobody commented about the virtual fence
Let's see...79 million for 2000 illegals. Give me a van, three guys and a weekend and I'll match that number for a cool million and save the government 78 million dollars. BTW...This IS a Bush failure; however, Obama and Clinton support a virtual fence over a permanent structure. Guess what folks...We all lose here. |

It is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
Point of fact, want to stop illegal aliens.....severely punish people that employ them. By severe I mean a gross 15% yearly revenue size fine and a second offense pulls their business license for 5 years. Trust me, nobody would higher undocumented workers. Illegals don't come here to sit on a street corner, they come for money.

Sorry to bust your bubble...but, it actually works. This was only a test and it was not the whole American/Mexican border. It was only tested for approximately 28 miles at the Arizona border. As any new "development" there will be some glitches out of the box. It will not be 100%, everything cost so much to develop new "softwares" and those "black boxes" that are being used are develop by other vendor which at time will not talk to each other because they are programed with different softwares. It is hard to get a "test bed" up and running with the government telling the developers what to do all the time.
Eventhough, you will still have all this technology to "watch" the fence. There are not enough people to actually make the so called "arrest." You still need boots on the ground. If the government is actually serious about keeping people out, it will get things done. This fence is not a force field or a high voltage fence, it's mostly sensors that will tell the border guards that there are movements. I agree with Wagner because it makes sense. That's the problem! No one uses the "KISS" method anymore.

Keeping it simple is apparently too complicated.
PS: here is how to straighten out mortgage lending practices: 1) stop punishing the banks who bought the loan by telling them they can't adjust rates. 2) any bank that allows an 'appraised value' for a property to base a loan amount from, must honor that value..regardless of market..for the duration of the loan. 3) the state would make big money following step 2 as they could then adjust your land tax rate off of your latest appraised value. With this practice a bank that told you your house was were $200,000 last year when they wrote your loan, can not value it at $150,000 when you attempt to refi this year.
