Have you ever done this or been tempted to do it?

Here's an interesting article in the LA Times. Have you ever inflated your resume to get that job or have you found out someone who falsely claimed to have a professional designation when they didn't? I'm in the financial services sector and my company is seeing a lot of resumes come in since the finance industry have shed thousands of jobs in the past year. We do the routine checks but may need to hire a professional firm to vet candidates.

Don't lie on applications. It was tempting to do so on college apps (especially with the competitive atmosphere). But I didn't because it reflects bad character, even if colleges/employers don't verify.

Hey Tuan while you are on here i wanted to ask your advice on a stock...

My broker has been touting this stock since last summer...since that time it has fallen off....Anyways my business partner and i did a little research on this company. We also met with the ceo of the company and were impressed. So earlier this month i jumped in with 100,000 shares at 1.5....i've already seen a 25% gain just this week . My broker is saying that the plan is to sell of the company late this year and the stock may hit 40 or higher...

Anyways it is on the TSE (toronto)

I think "blemishing" is standard fare, but I'd never lie about certifications, degrees or previous jobes, verification or not.

Tuan, don't know if you know this already or not since your post count is relatively low: soccerjunky is the resident troll; before you give him a serious reply.

SJ, I am a long term investor so that removes me somewhat from the daily volatility of individual stocks. Without knowing what your investment objective is and your risk tolerance, it would be difficult for me to give you any advice. Perhaps a more qualified professional, say another MBA or CFA could give you advice. Sorry that's the best I can do.

i gladly accept the resident troll designation

Actually tuan knows who i am .. we have exchanged more PMs than u have credits towards your engineering degree...but again no big deal... Also the original subtle intent of this thread was to expose the person whose vacancy (troll) i filled.. but that went way over your head ighhts

Thanks for the heads up. You're absolutely right, I've got a very low post count but I've been a member here for several years lurking. I joined shortly after I purchased my X5. IMHO, the X5 has been the best SUV I've ever owned, but I digress. I was drawned to X5world because there is an abundundance of information and opinion. There are quite a few characters on X5world. But IMO, we need characters on X5. It's what makes X5 unique. I wouldn't want to belong to a forum where everyone thinks alike. As long as you're not lying or attacking someone's race or religion, I think we can learn and have fun at the same time.
