Apacolypto

Has there been any discussion on this movie. I was taken in with the action and element of these forest dwellers and mayan society and rituals of sacrifice.

I think this movie would have done better at the box office if Mel didn't have his drunken anti-semitic tirade with the LA County sheriff's deputy. The bad PR hurt the film's release. I thought the movie was very good. The cinematography was excellent since I saw it in Blu-ray. My wife hated it b/c she felt it was too violent.

Scene with the black panther was a little far fetched

Excellent movie. In fact saw it back-to-back on dvd. I like the end shot on the beach. We all know what happened after that... The beginning of the end of the Mayan civilization.

Being a Mel fan, movie-wise, I wasn't sure what to expect, but
both V & I liked it. Good cinemaphotography and pt A to pt B
story. A tad far fetched in spots, but what movie isn't these days.

Having been to Tulum, Chichen Itza and Copan it was interesting
to see a "reenactment"...the violence was probably worse, in real
life, back in the day. I agree with Krimson: that final scene of the
Conquistadors landing was pretty ominous.

Not that it matters, but I met Mel in Tokyo, back around the time of
Braveheart: a fookin hoot, he was. And, even better looking in real
life, then.

I think during Mayan times, they executed the winning team. My motto would have been For The Loss (FTL).

Good flick. Havn't seen it HD. That might be even better.
Close to Mayan history. Sad story for a pretty well organized society.
