I feel your pain.

But let me add, I wish I had a pool. I mean, I really, really, really, wish I had a pool. And so does my dog (A portuguese waterdog) and my fiancee (btw, how do you make that cool little tilde over the second "e" in fiancee)
would also love a pool. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I'm not quite sure which, there is really no where to put one in my house. -- Lets not forget that I moved to LA from Miami where every house has a pool.
- I used to wake up in the morning, go for a swim, come home from work, go for a swim, spend saturdays and sundays with the dog and friends, going for swims, making bbq's, etc. I miss it so much and almost didn't buy my house because of no pool. But I couldn't pass on the investment opportiunity.

To be honest, I've been having some car problems, if somebody asked me today if I would trade in my car for a pool, I might be swayed.
Don't get me wrong, the car is great, the new mods awsome, but it has cost me a fortune and it is still broken. (needs another $1300 to get running.) I am starting to really regreat not having a warranty on a car I track a lot. Or just on an old car period.

- So, here's the good news. SKIP BARBER. Shifter Karts, furture car purchases and new car smell. You have plenty of options if you want to drive fast. Maybe as part of the sale your fiancee will allow you to do the 3 day racing school at Laguna Seca with Skip.

- or maybe we can make a deal. I'll let you drive my Porsche if you let me come swim in your pool, of course the Fiancee and puppy have to be allowed too

- on another quick note, are you going to install solar panel's to heat the pool. If I were building one, I think that is what I would do. But I also have not done a cost comparison. But I do have a friend who keeps his pool heated all year round, pays a energy bill of $1000/mo to keep it warm. But he is also an exercise nut and does his whole workout in the pool. Just curious if you have looked into it?

Take pics before she goes. And be glad you got to enjoy her and is being passed onto someone else. I wouldn't worry about the car problems, as long as you give full disclosure, you have no reason to feel responsibile for any future problems. He knows he can buy certified pre owned.

Good points Seth. I wasn't having any problems with the Boxster but having owned an E30 M3 I know what it's like to have to spend on repairs of an older car. I sold the M3 partly because it was killing me. The pool is a big deal and a must have for where I live. We plan on being in my current house for 3-5 years before we try to buy another. I'm lucky in that this is the second house I own so I guess I could have just about any car I want if I chose to invest in property instead. You mentioned investment opportunities and that's what I prioritized. The pool will add some value to my house but it's more for enjoyment. BTW, I'm probably going with a 30' free-form Pebbletech salt system pool with a raised spa. It'll be my giant outdoor bathtub. I don't think I'll install solar panels for heat. Where I am it's pretty warm all year 'round. I'll have a heater for the spa though.

Track schools are also a great idea. I'd love to do those. The only problem, or maybe not a problem, is that she would love to go with me. That would be great, just more expensive. We both love go-karts and have raced Josh several times when we're in the Bay Area. Shifter karts are a great idea. I might look into that because there is supposed to be an excellent track in Banning.

Oh, the tilde is typed by holding "Alt" and 0233. I can't even remember how I figured that out.

I am very jealous.

If you haven't finished designing it yet. In my dreams, I have an idea for my future pool. I actually saw it in a movie "the witches of eastwick" and wanted it ever since.
- What if somewhere in the middle of the pool you built an island. Installed in the island is a natural gas line and a fire pit.
You could actually have a fireplace raised above the waterline.

Again, saw it in a movie and thought "I have to have that!"

Itll be Ok buddy..Just think of what you get FOR selling it. Thats the only way I can think..I just put the sign on my X yesterday after toying around with selling it for a month..It will be a sad day, yes, but after reading in the local paper that gas will rise another 20 cents (and that was BEFORE Katrina!), Im becoming more and more content with the idea...

There will probably be another Boxster in your future if you do miss it that much..I sold my E46 for the X, and guess what Ill be getting to replace the x? Thats right, an E90. Life is funny...

I welled up when I sold my first Harley, a 2000 softail deuce.....my wife actually cried.....

when I asked why...she said she did not want to be the one that was blamed....we were selling our first house to build the second. I thought we needed the free cash...in this houseing market of course I was wrong.

Tears all for naught...there is a FAtBoy sitting in the garage in between the X5 and the TL.

That is front of the garage. I am not sure if you have ever driven a LEXUS. Best driving car I have ever been in. For those that say the high end Japanese stuff is glorified simply has not been in them.

Acura is no Honda and the Lexus is no Toyota. I know I have had both. Maybe back in the late eighties or early ninties when these first came out but I gotta tell ya. They drive. I miss the smoothness of the Lexus on the highway, but the X5 give me better road feel. That took a bit to get used to have not feeling anything for four years because is is so smooth. The X5 seems to attack the road where as the Lexus glides you over it.

Oh yeah....picked up the latest Car and Driver yesterday...the new TL beats the new 330ci in the 1/4 mile.....by .01 of a second....hahaha....I tell my wife all the time it is too much car for her.

At the end of the day I have love for all cars. If I ever have the means I will have a hand full.

I'm just giving you crap, Roc. It IS a nice car... just not my cup of tea. I just feel like Lexus cars don't have a soul. The completely insulate the driver from the road and the environment. Some (actually, MANY) people love that: the quiet, smooth ride. Don't take it to heart, man. I'm just ribbing 'ya. If anything, you're more open-minded than I am when it comes to cars, and that's a good thing.

I can totally relate, Kevin.. I felt awful when I had to give up the X5... I still think about it every day! It wasn't easy.. My mom thinks that I'm crazy for being so emotional about a car, but I guess she doesn't understand that to many people a car is more than just transportation. Cars and driving are a passion of mine, and the X5 was one of my dream cars. I never in a million years thought my parents would actually buy me one, but they did. It was my first car, and so it had sentimental value. I love my 330, but it isn't the same. Lately, though, I've been kind of glad that I don't have to fill the X5! It's expensive enough to fill the tank in the 330, which is pretty small. Gas around here is between $3.02-$3.20 a gallon for 87 octane!

Today was a good day because my friend drove his mom's X5 to school. She drives an '03 3.0i... She beats the crap out of it, too.. She runs it on 87 octane and it's way overdue for an oil change.. But he let me drive it a little which was cool... I love driving X5s!

Anyway.. Don't feel too bad, you'll have another car you love that much down the line.
