Flyers vs. Penguins

Well this 1st game is not over yet, but it does not look promising, with Kimmo Timonen out for the rest of the Playoffs, and turn overs in their own zone, I am starting to believe that Philly will never see a pro champion again in my life time (I'm 38 years old). Looks like there may be some truth to the "Curse of Billy Penn":

Am I just pessimistic or are the Philly sports teams and fans for that matter cursed???? November 10, 1985 in the early morning hours Pelle Lindbergh the Flyers young Allstar goalie and a rising superstar in the NHL has a tragic car accident in his red 911 and is killed ending the life of a great athlete, wonderful human being and of course the Flyers hopes of capturing another Cup. Remember the run that Eagles were supposed to make in the early 90's arguably the best defense in NFL history (the only defensive front 4 to start in the Pro Bowl) then Jerome Brown died in a tragic car accident while driving his Corvette..and the Eagles were never the same...1993 Phillies and Mitch Williams giving up the game 6 homer to Joe Carter...Eagles in 2004 T.O. breaks his leg and was not 100% in the Super Bowl vs. the Patriots...heart ache after heart ache...I am beginning to think that we Philly fans live for the misery and if we ever win again we will be in such a state of shock we will be silent during the victory parade down Broad Street.

I love to watch the Eagles and the Phillies lose, but I love the Flyers... go figure.

As I was raised a Red Sox fan, I am quite familiar with curse lore, but unlike most of my relatives, I saw the long overdue Series win as an invitation to stop watching professional baseball completely.
After breaking two fingers on a door jam in 1986 (I thought it was going to be a nice "soft" drywall, but I drunkenly missed and connected with all wood) and boycotting baseball right up until the best year, I can truly say that I am completely over watching baseball.

Similarly, as a Redskins fan (I have seen them play at the Vet perhaps a dozen times in my life and I have never seen them win a game there!) and an avowed Cowboy hater (America's Team -

), I can root for the Eagles once in a while (NFC East!) but I have pretty much decided to boycott professional football also.
First, I boycotted that sport until Deion Sanders was out of the game completely and now, I just don't care about football. I don't even know who's on "my team" anymore or where any of the expansion/relocating teams are from.
