I work at an airline - so i'm familiar with the seating rules.. either way, the pilot is crazy to make someone sit in the lavatory. The flight attendant is also crazy for doing it because of her comfert. Here's what allegedly happened, and the basic rules of Buddy Passes and the off-duty flight attendant flying.

The Flight attendant (FA) and Muthu were probably the very last to be seated. Since he was flying on a buddy pass (given to him by an employee), and she was off -duty flying as an employee - she had "rank" so she had the right to that last seat. What she did was allow him to take the seat, and chose to sit in the "jump seat" - this is the seat facing all the passengers that you'll see flight attendants sit on.

So she got uncomfortable, and decided she wanted her seat back, the problem is - Mutho isn't an employee - and by law can't sit in the jump seat. So the issue is if the pilot really told him to go sit inthe lavatory - either way it's illegal. Why not make him sit in the jump seat for an hour just so the FA can feel comfortable. The other issue is that the FA should be used to sitting htere!!! although not for an entire flight.

I spent most of a flight (in an Airbus) with the flight attendants (Van-Tor) because I had a window seat. The cabin wall sloped so quickly in, I could not sit vertical. They were kind enough to allow me to sit in one of their jump seats untill landing. Now it's aisle seats only and Boeing aircraft only, but actually it's my X5 now, coast-to-coast-to-coast. Never was it suggested that I sit in the toilet, where flight rules prohibit anyone from being in during takeoffs & landings (and, I believe, heavy turbulence)
