You got an X3 loaner? Lucky...

All I ever get is a 328i in white or blue. I have never gotten anything better

If you stop thinking of it as a small X5, and start thinking of it as a E46 3-series, everything will make a lot more sense.

Just out of curiosity, was it the standard stereo system? I don't think my Premium sounds all that bad but I mostly listen to burned CD's that have been "adjusted". And then again maybe I just haven't heard what's in the X5's...

I've never been a fan of the BMW audio systems. I've got some pretty high standards having built car audio systems in my younger days and having a pro audio system at home. That said the systems in both of my wifes Lexus's were top notch for factory systems.

Not really. They tossed me a loner and i was just musing about the experience. Nothing sarcastic about it.

I haven't a clue.

Press the musical NOTE button several times and if it shows settings for Jazz, Church, and Rock it is the Premium system. Also since the loaner has the NAV screen there are other manual settings that can be adjusted on there. Don't ask me how, I didn't get NAV.

I find that the sound system in the X3 is a little sub-standard sounding. We have the "Premium stereo" but it still sounds a little like a boombox sitting on the passenger's lap.

My recently departed Passat wagon had a "Monsoon" system with Bose speakers all over the place and it sounded like whatever band was playing was right in the back seat, strumming their instruments by comparison with the X3.

I have tried a few of the settings of the DSP or whatever, but I cannot really hear any difference between them.

Well, it's adequate I suppose, especially since I often find myself turning of the tunes so that I can listen to that old I6 crank through the gears.

A different sort of music...



As for small, I definitely feel smaller as a car on the road, but I do not find this car to be much if at all smaller inside than my Mom's E53. In fact, she told me that she thought the back seats of my X3 are bigger than hers.

I think she's wrong actually, but still, it is her perception.

that's funny. It's ironic...my Xbrother in law drove my 4.6 limited imola red btw...and when he got his X3 he didn't even bother to ask if i wanted to drive it. it's ok though....

it just felt like i was on an episode of curve your enthusiasm, and i was larry david.
