wasn't making a comparison, but hoops in NYC for the last few years has been a pretty big yawnfest.... don't take it personally, the facts are the facts though.

Seriously, La v. Bos is better for the league than La v. DET. The league has been promoting the Boston Three Party all year. The want their return on the investment, not to mention Kobe's run for the MVP (the MVP should have gone to CP3, IMO). As well, La v. Det is better than San Antonio v. [insert team name here]. Stearn was praying that San Antonio did not make it back this year. San antonio is fundamentally sound, but not exciting to watch. |

Gresch: I thought the same thing about the NBA earlier this season (living in Miami - went to a few games.. cheered for the other team LOL - Toronto and NJ - except Carter). Now I'm watching the playoffs closely and rooting for Boston (even though I'm a knicks fan.. but not like i have a "team" or even an organization right now). |

Yah knicks are my team too. NY ball is in the dumps. And originally being from Toronto I have a natural hatred for Vince Carter so Nets are out. Until they r in brooklyn at least.

Basketball in general is kind of boring to me unless i'm playing. You only really need to watch the last 10 minutes or so. It's not like other sports where if there is a goal, td, run scored in the first minute, that could be all the scoring or it might not be. In hoops the first 3 quarters are just a buildup of the score for the 4th quarter... yeah, overly simplistic, but it's how the game looks to me now.

I see your point. But it's the hot and cold streaks that come and go. The defense that creates the excitement, and the beauty of body control by someone like Kobe when unbelievable shots are made. That's what keeps me watching
These days more than anything though is the inequity coming from the officials. Talk about bad calls??? It's pathetic

Did you see that offensive foul on paul pierce on a standard pump fake and shoot? And he hit the 3? That's probably the worst call I've seen in recent history.I also agree gresch that the last 10 min is all you need to watch sometimes. I think it also depends on if your team is doing good. |
