It did handle the Ring pretty damn well, but from what I can see the source of the test was the manufacturer (it wasn't tested by a third party like many others on the Ring) and the Ring is a very long track where power/acceleration also plays a big part in the lap times. It won't handle like an M3 sedan or RS-4, IMO.

Side note, the Le Mans X5 was 9 seconds faster than the CTS-V second gen around the Ring. That lap time has held up better than I thought it would.

didn't post this to start a war. i hate it on the cadillac board when that happens.

just info, that's all. not arguing for or against with anyone.

sorry if this is a divisive post. back to our regular programming.

I am not trying to give you a hard time. The CTS-V is a blazingly fast car for sure.

Some diehard BMW fanboys can certainly be funny. ylowjacket beat me to it--it went around the 'ring faster than an M5 or M3.

Seems like people can't appreciate a car if it doesn't have a roundel

This is a brilliant piece and it's a crowning achievement for GM. I for one am happy to see the US manufacturers get ahead for once.

OK...I'm embarrassed to say but I was looking at a few cars for my wife when we turn in her leased Chrysler 300C and was considering the STR8, the Mercedes E55, the BMW 335 and now I might consider this. She only puts 10k a year on her car or less so mileage is not an issue.

The E is a great car, and they go for super cheap a year used.

Yep...One other bonus...Her brother is the Senior service adviser for our local Mercedes dealer.

The E55 is no BMW but neither is my wifes current 300C.

I like the E alot, it's a very nice car, and the 2008 is a decently reliable (more then the 5 in my opinion) and luxurious place to spend time, it does have more wind noise then I'd like, but otherwise it's a great all around luxury liner
