I think all of realize the reality of this all. Statdoc says it all. He knew of the impending danger of the hurricane and got his family out. He did the noble thing by staying and helping due to his profession. The strong survive...and are usually smart enough to get out of harms way. I understand their are some immobile people. Even being immobile there are things you can do to prepare to get out when there is 72 hours notice. This is one great country...but my god we have some lazy leaches that suck our tax dollars dry. Do I feel sorry for the victims of N.O. aboslutely...What a terrible thing to happen...but......You have got to take care of yourself. Help out..lend a hand...help your fellow neighbor get out too. Dont just sit there and think...I dont have to do anything...cause the government which I despise is going to take me away from here and feed me and give me tons of money. And if they dont...I am going to steal everything I can.

Well said Doc! You did your best to protect your loved ones from harms way. God helps those who help themselves. Goverment etc come later.

First off lets not turn this into a racial thing here cause i'm sure that there arent only blacks stuck there in N.O. and i'm sure that they arent the only ones shooting at HELP or raping and looting!! And i'm sure that they arent the only ones that need our help right now!

What i will say is that these ppl no matter if they we're too stupid, drugged, sleeping or just not fortunate enough to get out in the 72 hours that they we're told to evacuate need help right now! Yes the strong will survive, but for society to work as whole we need everyone in it, not only the strong!

We see the best and worst of our people in times like these but what really pisses me off is the news agencies showing us only the worst that they found i'd like to see the person who gave up everything he had to help ppl that he may never have met or cared about in the first place!

But I will say this, i can only hope that the ppl out there who are dying are deserving of it! The ppl who are setting society back a couple of hundred years should be shot on sight!

What happened to the laws of humanity. If our taxpayers money is being used to fight a war tha'ts not ours, i WOULD EXPECT THE GOVERNMENT TO USE THAT MONEY TO HELP THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, POOR OR RICH, HOMELESS OR NOT, JUNKIES OR NOT.
What about the laws of humanity, I must have missed the chapter that shooting at and raping are for humanity. Nothing says welcome like gunfire and rape. What about laws of society? So if you want to talk about laws of humanity, let's include society as well. What you end up with is that some of these people don't want any help and have nothing to contribute to anyone in any shape or form. Their greatest gift is their removal.

Not to turn this into a political discussion, even though it headed that way. I fail to see how the federal government did anything wrong. The federal government gives money to states and cities; they are also free to collect taxes. The federal government cannot interfere with states and cities in what they do, they can withhold federal money, but policymaking is left to states and cities. The state of Louisiana and New Orleans dropped the ball, big time. It's not the role of the federal government to make DR plans in every part of the country. You know why? Not only would it be viewed as illegal but also the states and cities would tell them to mind their own business. Now that Louisiana and New Orleans have been caught with their pants down, they want to shift the blame. Next, I want to government out of my life. I decide in how I want to live and I also accept responsibility for my actions.

While this whole thing is very unfortunate for the majority of the people in New Orleans, as there are a lot of good hardworking people that live there. Don't group the scum in there and think they should get the same treatment as everyone else.

Unfortunately, "news" agencies thrive on controversy and mayhem. When they can't find some, they stir some up (Think about most judicial appointments in recent years. Think about everyone who runs for office nowadays.) Yes, the "blame game" has started in NO, pushed primarily by the media. Every time you see some official on TV, a reporter tries to stir something up by asking if that person thinks someone else screwed up.

As I said before, the vast majority of citizens in the USA, and NO, are good, decent, hard-working people. That, unfortunately, is not "news-worthy" in the days of 24-hour cable news.

Of course in the online world, the website owner/administrator has the say is what can and cannot be said.

Here's an idea, why not blame the two people that could have prevented this, the governor of Louisiana and the Mayor of New Orleans. They had water pumps that didn't work, a DR plan that didn't work or pretty much the lack of one and just plain bad judgment. How do you call an evacuation of a city and then put people in the superdome? That made absolutely no sense.

Most of these people need help, the rest just need $0.50, which more than covers the cost of the bullet to cover their greatest contribution to society they can offer, their removal from it. The scum that are using guns to shoot at rescue workers, police, fire, military, coast guard, etc. need to be removed, permanently. Let's not forget the looters, they deserve the same treatment. Resources were being used to try to maintain peace rather than saving lives. When that military aircraft was fired upon, they should have fired back, and not with equal force, but in a manor that would make them think twice (if they survived) about trying that a second time.

So you are saying that if you were in their shoes you wouldn't go into a store to get food?? Shut the f*** up, yes you would. Every soul on this earth would go into Albertson's or what not and get themselves and whoever else they were fending for food. They are surviving... Idiot
