Old old old crash... I wanna say the driver was Joey Hand. He was fine after the accident and is still racing.

Yes, it was Joey Hand. I was there. In those grandstands in the background. It was one of the most horrible sights I have EVER seen in my life. And, yet, one of the most amazing sights as I watched him get out of the car on his own. And he was on the track the next day. The incredible power of a BMW!
The paddocks were interesting the rest of the weekend. The team of the guy that clipped Joey was being harassed by someone every time I was back there. For what it's worth, that "launching pad" was fixed the day after it happened. I was at Mid-Ohio for this same race this past weekend and Joey was set to co-drive the Ruby Tuesday Daytona Prototype with Bill Auberlen but they suffered a broken differential very early in the race and withdrew. I heard the race announcer talk about the crash and he mentioned that the video was still being played repeatedly on Speed and ESPN. I guess he was right! BTW, this had been posted before (http://www.xoutpost.com/lounge/41004-...wreck-vid.html) but I hadn't seen this view of it. This angle CLEARLY shows the cheap shot by the GTO.R. Makes me want to ring someone!!
