Hey Ralph Nader. How do you really feel about an Obama Presidency?
Obama is trying to "talk white" and to appeal to "white guilt." "There's only one thing different about Barack Obama when it comes to being a Democratic presidential candidate. He's half African-American," Nader said in what the newspaper described as a wide-ranging interview on Monday. "Whether that will make any difference, I don't know. I haven't heard him have a strong crackdown on economic exploitation in the ghettos. Payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead. What's keeping him from doing that? Is it because he wants to talk white? He doesn't want to appear like Jesse Jackson? We'll see all that play out in the next few months and if he gets elected afterwards." Asked to clarify whether he thought Obama does try to "talk white," Nader added: "I mean, first of all, the number one thing that a black American politician aspiring to the presidency should be is to candidly describe the plight of the poor, especially in the inner cities and the rural areas, and have a very detailed platform about how the poor is going to be defended by the law, is going to be protected by the law, and is going to be liberated by the law. Haven't heard a thing." "He wants to show that he is not a threatening . . . another politically threatening African-American politician," Nader said. "He wants to appeal to white guilt. You appeal to white guilt not by coming on as black is beautiful, black is powerful. Basically he's coming on as someone who is not going to threaten the white power structure, whether it's corporate or whether it's simply oligarchic. And they love it. Whites just eat it up." Yikes! I'm not an Obama fan in the least but WOW. If that is not racially charged I'm not sure what is anymore. Let's see how the Left views these comments.

I'm glad Mr. Nader had the opportunity to express himself.
Nuff said........

I don't agree cause in the final analysis the prez can't do a thing about the plight of the poor no matter where they live. No American politician aspiring to the presidency has done so. Never has and never will.

I could list the things they each did to help poor people in this country. Even LBJ did quite a bit with his "war on poverty", although several years of Nixon undid most of those accomplishments.

Nope again. Why? because we still have the same problems.
Nothing has been solved No American politician aspiring to the presidency or one that has served has done so. Never has and never will.

If you compare poverty numbers from when FDR took office until when he died, I'd say there was very big progress. Likewise, if you compare poverty when JFK took office to when LBJ left office, there was fairly good progress. On the other hand, take a look at when Reagan took office until when he left, or our current president, and you will see a large rise in poverty over those periods. Other countries have solved the problem of poverty. Why do you think we are incapable of it? Are we not as good or as capable as they are?
