Horrible idea, if you're an Israeli...great idea if you live in any other part of the world..unless of course..you like gas.

Israel is one US policy "change" from being out on its own. That coupled with a "change" in US relations with Saudi Arabia equals the end of that little 50+ year project.

The US condemned them after the bombing of the Iraqi Nuclear Plant but I'm sure many US officials were secretly doing high 5's in the hallways.

I'm sure Israel was waiting to see if we would do the honers this time in Iran after the Bush administration entered into war with Iraq. After-all, we are just on the other side of the fence and there was and is speculation that Iraq is a defensive position in the middle east for the US if things happen to work out as planned.

I don't believe that will happen because we know the Israeli's will take matters into their own hands as they have demonstrated they have done before. As for the fallout. You think gas prices are high now...Just wait.

I'm guessing before the end of the year, for sure in a year - year and a half.

Everyone wants to compare this to the 1981 Iraqi bombing, but there is one major difference. The Iraqi nuclear plant was not yet operational. The Iranian plans are up and running, and to bomb them would be the equivalent of dropping a few hydrogen bombs on Iran. It could cause a radiation disaster the size of Chernobyl. Being that Israel is not that far from Iran, it could affect them as well. I would conclude that they are not stupid enough to do that, but after watching their actions of the last few years, one never knows.

It would only affect Israel depending on the wind direction. Because it will not be a high yield nuclear detonation the fallout will be much less due to the ionized particles not being carried into the upper atmoshere.

You could be right. I don't really know a whole lot about it. Bob Grant (a NY conservative talk-radio host) had on some expert last week who was talking about why he didn't think it would happen. He basically said Israel would not want to be reponsible for a huge civilian loss. Although, judging from their actions of the last 40 years, I don't know how much I agree with that. But he may be right.

Mr. Grant's guest claimed the uranium enrichment facilities are way underground and could not be effectively bombed. I don't know if this is correct or not, but it was what he said.
