Aargh, that sucks. And the car is supposed to be so easy to control. It's, like, foolproof.

The guy probably turned off all the electronic nannies. His huge ego probably won out, driving beyond his capabilities.

There's a saying in the engineering world: No matter how much you try to foolproof your design, there will always be a better fool.

Looks like he lifted...

-- Gotta tell you though, I've taken off the TC in my Porsche and spun it. I was lucky there was no wall at track out. Stuff like that does happen though, if you track. If you want to get fast, you need to push and push and push, past the limits of the onboard cpu. Nothing sucks more than going through a carousel and having the car choked by traction control (well, nothing sucks more than hitting a wall, but you get my point.)

And a bit of carnage comes with the territory.. That is why it's best to make sure your insurance company covers you at the track.. Mine does

Was that the video of the R8 chasing the Viper and making the mistake of fixating on the Vipers tail and line instead of driving his own line... then yelling don't hit the wall don't hit the wall don't hit the wall!

Yes,

It would seem there was a hill, and the drivers line looked to be ok. But I'm guessing as the R8 crested the hill, the driver lifted as the car became unsettled, causing the rear to sway as the car came back down.

Had he kept his foot in it, he probably would have been fine.

haha oh wow. I wonder what happens if say a press driver for a magazine wrecks one of the exotics? Is there some special insurance? Especially if it's a prototype.
