Do you have a home gym?

What's in it?
How do you use it?
What's your routine?

When we moved into our house, the builder had made a small room with a steam room in it. Since the room was oddly shaped and we didn't need the space for anything else, we turned it into a home gym.

Both the wife and I workout with a trainer. 3x a week, in the morning, he comes to the house and is very reasonable in price ($35/hr.)

Routine is:

Five minute warm up on the elliptical

Then outside for 3-5 minutes of jump rope:

Then comes the boxing
Usually 3x3 min rounds of glove work on the Widows Walk, top terrace of my house:

Followed by a round or two of heavy bag:

Then another 3 minutes of jump rope, combined with jumping jacks and backyard sprints.

THen we go inside for weight training which starts with 3 rounds of pushups:

Then we mix up the workouts to include, Back, Chest, Shoulders, Bi's, Tri's,
(I benched 195lbs. today)

Usually finish up with some lower back and abs stuff.

and a nice steam when time allows:

The gym needs some repair because of a roof leak we had last summer but I'm looking forward to getting it fixed up, cleaned up, hanging everything, etc.

Yes, I'm still fat, but I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of my overhand RIGHT..

The gym is tight but it works.

- perfect pushup bars like you have
- standard pushup bars
- resistant bands of all sizes

Michelle,

Most gyms charge about $60-$70 an hour, or more for a trainer. And the trainer, if their lucky, only keeps 1/2 of that.

So when I decided 1.5 years ago to train in the house, I posted an ad on Craigslist which was very simple and clear.

Looking for a trainer, must have boxing/ring/mitt experience. Weight training, cardio, etc.

I'm willing to pay $35hr and will workout, consistently. I need two hours, back to back, 3x a week in the morning. An hour for me and an hour for my wife. I will buy sessions as a package.

I must have gotten 100 replies from trainers who were willing to work at that price. Literally, there were so many responses, I only looked at trainers who sent pictures. I didn't want some huge dude training me and the Mrs.

I interviewed one trainer, did a trial session with him and he has been training us ever since.

And the reality of the situation is, he makes as much training us as he would training anyone else in a gym that he doesn't own. We are very consistent and reliable and we've been at it for over 1.5 years.

Plus, I make breakfast for everyone after the workout

How'd you break your Bowflex? Did you hang too much dry cleaning on it? LOL.

I wish. I actually use my equipment. I was doing pull downs with the full stack and the cables snapped. Hitting me in the neck and leaving a nice big bruise. POS. Called Bowflex, they refused to back their product up...

I started with free weights when I was 17, tried the dumb cable crap for 2 years, and now back to free weights. I have a nice setup, over 500lbs of weight and the whole system I have cost maybe $1,500.00.

My Goal: just to look like I chop wood for a living

Great place: http://bigfitness.com/

Posted this back in 2005:

http://www.xoutpost.com/lounge/4130-a...hlight=Bowflex

sadly the repair cables they got me..broke as well

I have no doubt, things in Maine are a bit cheaper than place like Los Angeles...
But it's just a guess.
