My little rant..
In order to get into the building if you have a badge you just show them and walk in. I have a badge and attached to the badge is some kind of magnet that opens the doors everywhere else. I parked near my office and I am walking towards the building and some Air Force guy is walking ahead of me. He holds the door and I think he is holding it for me and he is like NO you need to swap your ID to get in. I showed him my badge and he blocked the enterance and said go swipe your ID. Basically swipe the little magnet to open the door. I swipe it and I told him "not so bright are you". He got pissed got my name I think and I walked away smirking. I'm Middle Eastern. The hell does this prick think he accomplished my blocking my enterance? Must feel good about protecting the nation. |

He is doing his job in order to capture and monitor all entrances into the building this is a regular security procedure that is found every where even in the outside world. (i.e. commercial and institutional buildings) As you are aware once you swap the card will go record your activities and are policies needed to abide to internal audit procedures and policies.

IMO he did the right thing. This is the only way to defeat piggy backing. This is a security risk that has been exploited numerous times.
Some people have no issues with PB but if you want, you can ask the other person to swipe their card to gain entrance (perhaps in your instance he needed to be a bit more polite)

I would agree, BUT
at the front of the building all you have to do is show them your badge. they glance at it and say have a nice day I dont swipe to get in from the front nor do I show them my CAC (dont have one) to get into the base. I just show them a picture ID |

In that type of environment, I say he is right. Your badge is to let the "powers that be" see where you are at all the time. They know what door you used, what time, how long, etc. It's all about accountability.
Tailgating in many places can get you fired. now the guy did not have to be a prick, I hate power trippers

No reflection on you Aimster
Kinda reminds me of security Apartments. People wait until someone with a key goes thru the door. Then they try to come in right behind them In the past i have politly asked "Would you mind using your key to gain entrance"? They were not happy but i explained "If you live here then you can appreciate the importance of why everyone has a key for this door. "If you don't live here then I'm sure you can understand why everyone who lives here has a key. They expect everyone to use it to gain entrance. Either way please accept my apology and use your key.

It's the same way that nobody ever checks ID when you write "see ID" on your credit card.
Which is why all the computer tablets have little smiley faces in them ![]() But on topic, if someone has the credentials, and you aren't in a "lockdown" mode, why the hell can't you just hold the door. Such a NY thing not to.

He was rude for sure. But he was right to
make sure your card was functional I think. In today's times a little more security is called for.
