Hi guys~ I've had my first experience of being threaten by a dog.

I was mountain biking along a trail, when I get to the top and begin to decent about 300 feet, a black dog ran up and start barking, of course... with no leash. The lucky thing is that there is a deep trench between us and the trench is about 150 feet, where both end meets. I am stuck in the middle looking at the dog barking.. and feel helpless, as running either way will not work... and the soil is very soft... no fast biking downhill, and running up hill... can I beat that dog??

Then I call 911, I don't know if I've overdone it... but, I felt it is a life-threatening situation... and I am in the back trail also. They directed me to the local sheriff station, and I told them the situation and they tell me to run away from the dog... I explained the trench situation and they don't seem to understand it(both way are equally worst).

What make the situation worst is that they told me :
they don't know where is trail is...
they can't shoot the dog(I kinda understand, but still)
they can setup a rodeo show...(but they said the dog after them is a problem)
they can't do much, why don't you try to run...

afterall... I got out fine because the dog and me is running in circle around the trench back and forth, and I ran once the dog reach the downhill side of the trench and I ran uphill. Lucky there is cement about 400 feet away.

The most funny thing is... they call me after 15 minute and asked if i am okay. Then I said I finally got out of it.. and they said "We'd thought you will be okay. I am glad that everything is fine", and I asked, so what did you do? Did you call animal control or send someone over? They said, No.. you will need to call animal control yourself and the sheriff can't find you...

I feel that this is all non-sense... can/should I file a complaint? Thanks~

If I have my X, I would jump in and chase the dog for a while.. and maybe bump his a** a few times~
