Rant of the Month - Burst Brake Hose

Hello fellow X5worlders -

just dropping u guys a rant as I sit here waiting for a tow. Front passenger brake line just went ~burst~ and I'm now on my 2nd hr since original phone call for the tow........Lucklily no one was hut nor any vechiles damaged. I came off the highway and pulled over for a quick stop. As I left my stop, the pedal bottomed out so I consider this extremely good luck and will be thanking the stars tonight

AA was the most economical at 4.50 per mile.
Everyone else......was asking on overage $375-$450 for the f'en tow.

Send some good luck my way. I've lost 20lbs already in this sweltering heat ;-)

hth,

Have a wood weekend guys.

WD only covered the 1st 10 miles and my ~trusted joint ~ is all the way up on Huntington LI. So it's a net 28 miles difference not covered and WD *relationship* with their towing agent was quoting me $450 for the ride.

The other previous time I used WD and ended up using someone else....was when my water pump went south and I was hanging out for 6 hrs...

We're now at 2.5 hrs and this is with numerous phone calls
they're 30 minutes out, etc etc.

I expected the wait though. It's a Hustle out here in NYC

Sorry to hear this. $450 for the ride? Whew!!! Doesn't BMW have their own roadside service?

Out of warranty.
And so the wait begins...

my last phone was 12:30 where the update was they're 20 minutes away
Come 1:10, I called and they were 30 minutes away.

Just got notified that their *truck* broke down and another dispatch should be there by 2 PM EST.

I knew this was how my day was going to be the minute I knew I needed a tow.........

At least I have the laptop to keep me semi busy....

Time to get "towing coverage" added to your insurance policy.

p.s.. Quicksilver

BMW Manhatten is only a 30 minute ride if I'm lucky but there's no way the car is going near the dealership.

I've been to them all, and there's not alot of worthy dealerships out here.

Since it's the brakes and not a engine / electrical problem, I'd rather have my tuning shop deal with it. Afterall, they are the ones that put the Brembos on the X as well.

she's all tucked away in the shop waiting some TLC from my wrench.

I haven't needed a tow in ages, and the last one was with the X prior as well.
Unless you have a friend or know someone in the tow industry, it's all a hustle. Waited 6 hrs again on Friday. Can't fault the tow driver as it's moreso the dispatch and how they *snag the tow job* knowingly well that, there is 3 + jobs behind the scheduled one.

gresch - I actually did some googling to see how the ERS limits were as opposed to my *aaa, amex towing and aftermarket* warranty direct* insurance* combo.

I suppose with ERS under auto insurance, it would be logged into the universal CLUE database. Not sure if that is a good thing or not. I used Chubb for home and biz, but use Geico all the way on all the cars due to MUCH extremely cheaper pricepoint. Sofar, have naver taken up a claim with them (everyone says they are the worst) but I did get one windshield replaced (OEM) and also had then deal with a vandalized keying on my other car (entire passenger sie panel) using my bodyshop of choice, and there was never a hassle or rate premium hike afterwards.
