I listened to a CD!

I was cleaning up the house today and found a CD player. I realized I haven't listened to a CD in years. Literally. I always use iPod or radio in the car, and have used iPods since 2003 when I'm out and about.
So, I started listening to the CD in there (it was Don Henley's Actual Miles) and was shocked. The sound quality blasts my iPod away. It's so much richer, and when I listened to the same exact song on both CD player and iPod, the iPod version sounds tinny and flat. I used the same headphones, the ones that came with the CD player. I tried the iPod earphones, and they sucked in comparison.
The unit I have is a no-frills Discman D-121, that, according to the label, was made in January 1994. It's a miracle that both the CD player, CD, and headphones function like new.

It's an interesting experience to not use an iPod. No ID3 tags, no album artwork, no podcasts, no video or movies. Just music, and you are forced to actually listen to it instead of looking for the next song or playing brick.
