Question What is up with Olympic TV Coverage?

One channel has this, another channel has that.
Still another channel has somethings else.
It's kinda crazy.

Who's sitting around watching
8 hours of Olympic coverage just to see one or
2 events?

I guess i haven't found the key to
individual programming.

USA Played Greece at 6:00 AM this morning?
Maybe my TV has a clock problem but for a game
touted to be of so much importance please tell me
why it played at 6:am when folks are going to work
or are at work.........

From here (where we have a Canadian feed, TSN, and a US NBC feed), seems like the programming plan is 50% women's beach volleyball, and 50% Michael Phelps swimming and strutting.

There are some other events fit in when Phelps is away from the pool, and the volleyball isn't on, but they don't get the same focus. Rowing has been good.

I think NBC's coverage has been very good this year. Haven't seen anything but swimming, gymnastics, or vball though.

Just use your DVR and fast forward through the stupid events. NBC has the best events with two other cable channels in my area covering badminton, hopscotch, jacks, hand slap and don't forget the Rock-Paper-Scissors finals.

DVR pwns when it comes to following the Olympics. There's so much bs stuff in between events.

It seems like they've shown a ton of swimming events including ones that there's no US participant, and the events the US is participating in for the others. Swimming, gymnastics and diving have been pretty great to watch. UHD only seems to show boxing which is great too. Haven't bothered watching the other stuff on the umbrella channels (USA, CNBC, etc). The other stuff is pretty boring and/or we can watch it the rest of the 3 years 11 months. All in all they've done well in covering the events imo.

If theyre showing basketbal live which I believe they are then with a time change depending on your time zone is 12 hours so it is 6pm there

Except for the fact that the majority of their staff can't pronounce Beijing correctly.

It was aired live. If NBC decided to air the event "primetime" in the states, the game would be 12 hours old, and the scores would be all over ESPN. Now that wouldn't be fun. I just got through watching USA v. Greece on ffwd... for the highlights. Still enjoyed it.
