Unhappy loggin in from the hospital... 9/3/08... 12/9/09 Update

hey gang jusy wanted to fill in everyone on whats happened in my life recently.

2 weeks ago I was had a serious diving accident on Lake Minnetonka, MN. I was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital and had some major work done on the neck. I believe they fused my c-4,5,6 into one.

initially I could only move my toes and fingers on one side of my body but in the past 2 weeks i have made major steps.
I can now walk fairly well and my fingers have started to work again, well enough to type

the doctors wont tell me if itwill all come back but because ive made such good progress so far, my final outcome looks promising.

hopefully i'll be out of the hospital soon and riding in the x5.

I'll try to check in every few days to give updates, please keep me in your prayers.

Pete

12/09/09 UPDATE

Just thought I would stop by and give everyone an update since my accident last year. First off, reading through this thread gives me a warm feelin for all the support you guys gave me. I remember it was about 2 weeks after the accident, my fingers and were just starting to come back(rest of arms had no motion at that point). My mom put my laptop on my lap and lifted my hand to wrest on the keyboard. It must have taken me an hour to write that first post.

Anyways, 1.5 post my legs are near 95%... walking and running with no problems. Arms came back to about 80%... I have full range of motion, but cant lift heavy items anymore. Overall, life's back to normal... except a big fucking scar.

I ended up selling the X5 this summer to a younger kid who seemed to appreciate all the time and modifications i had done over the years. Always loved audis so I ended up finding a nice 2005 S4 6speed with 30k on the clock. Love the V8 grumble and quattro but miss the utility and fukin massive 315s on the X5. Sooo, I've migrated over to the Audizine forums... and wont be loggin on here much anymore. Just wanted to thank EVERYONE for their prayers and support throughout my ordeal... I came to this site to learn about the e53 before i even had one but really got sucked into a community of great people that became somewhat of a support group. Anyways, im done rambling...

Feet first!

Holy sh*t. Sorry to hear that. I can't imagine how relieved you must feel to be able to move and walk again.

Take care of yourself and be well soon.

Damn, KMan...close call and very scary.
Hope your recover fully and, soon.

I tossed up a HappyB'Day thread to you a few
weeks ago; I thought it odd that you never saw
it, as you had been posting here frequently...
Now, I understand.
Get better, KMan!

Best of luck with the recovery, Pete

Fill us in with the details when you're feeling up to it. From your post, it doesn't sound like you were in your X5.

[ Edit: now I see you said "diving" not "driving" ]
