Does all this government involvement in the financial markets scare you ?

We all know the good that comes out of it, but started to bother me was the ban on short selling. Say goodbye to the free market. The worse case scenario outweighs the best case scenario. Ultimately the US has become one of the largest hedge funds using our money to hedge their bets. Taxpayers are taking all of the risk and will never see the gains.

Never understood short selling but it is the buss word these days. Jim Kramer on MSNBC was very happy they banned it... and I trust him! (Shouldn’t I?)

From a non financial professional point of view. The latest move from the Gov. seems to address the short term issue facing the financial sector and designed to avoid a meltdown in the that sector. Both parties are on board....
MY biggest concern is that the US Gov. is stretched SOOO thin that adding such huge liability on our balance sheet would short change our future and the value of the dollar... ie. astronomical inflation.

We are risking the whole thing to save a single sector, which couple of years ago was paying CEO's few hundred millions dollars in Xmas bonus... Neither fair nor safe!!!!

Fannie and Freddie’s political contacts exist deep in the two presidential campaigns.

At least 20 McCain fundraisers have lobbied on behalf of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, netting at least $12.3 million in fees over the past nine years.

Political insiders Arthur B. Culvahouse Jr., picked by McCain to vet his vice presidential nominees, and Jim Johnson, picked by Obama to perform the same function, once worked for the mortgage giants.

And for years, Rick Davis (Chief Executive Officer of the McCain campaign) served as president of an advocacy group led by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that defended the two companies against increased regulation.

You just blindly follow your boy don't you, complete inability to be objective...amazing

How about the fact that Obama ranks number 2 in taking money from Freddie and Fannie, buttressed by his two other Dem boys. Oh, I didn't have to go back 9 years to get that either

And you like to spin half-truths, don't you? Someone has got to keep you honest.

My challenge to you is still on the table.

You've yet to challenge anything. Your ability to go back nearly a decade when, oh yeah, Clinton was in the White house, in some attempt to validate in your own mind how Obama's actions are somehow acceptable. Amazing.

BTW, didn't half spin anything, you just went an additional 9 years back to attempt to find something If you could just admit you're blindly following him, it would be much easier to understand your point...or lack there of. Nice how you had no objection to your inability to be objective

Guess the real question is, have you come to grips with the fact that Mr. Hope and Change is really the same as every other politician...I mean, w/o the years in office.

Politics, n.: from the Latin poly meaning many, and ticks meaning small blood-sucking objects.

The funny thing about Obama supporters and Anti-McCain articles or blogs. They all focus on pointing fingers or fact checking McCain. Hardly ever do I see anything that has a focus on why people should vote for Obama. Its always about why people shouldn't vote for McCain.

I wasn't asking a question, but even if I was your reply was quite typical of Obama lovers. Whenever they get asked a serious questions about details, they'll always say that they've mentioned them at some point and tell other people to go find out for themselves.
