NJ GSP question - for those of you in the N.E.

Are they getting rid of the tolls (and toll booths) on the GSP? Last time I went up that way, the Northbound toll was .70 and they were not charging Southbound. That was ONLY for the first tollbooth after the TP entrance (going North). I would LOVE for them to get rid of the tolls and toll-booths - what a freakin nightmare as 5 lanes go through @20 tollbooths then back down to 5 lanes - always fun!!!

JC: Get yourself an EZPass...the only way to go. We still have mine, and use it on the run back to NJ/NY/CT.

Actually - have one for each car.

But it doesn't help in rush hour traffice (I think that is from 2pm to 9pm) on the Northern part of the GSP. Freakin mess. I still have to go up there about 2 to 4 times a month (Mahwah) - the GSP tollbooths can add a significant amount of time to the travel. And I REALLY REALLY HATE when someone without a EZPass gets in the EZP only lane - then stops - then cuts someone off or worse yet - tries to back up!!!

Yeah, I remember that get on to the GSP...if I had to use that sec. of GSP it was a bear; if not, I trundled north on NJTPk, over 80 to 17 and got on GSP, there. When I was last in NJ in Dec., we got stuck in the Paramus xmas shopping crap. I had forgotten how bad the traffic is. We have 54,000 people in our entire county here in hillbillyheaven. But, I do miss lotsa stuff about NJ and NY.

But I would NOT miss the GSP nor Route 17.

Come to think of it - I would not miss Route 73 nor 70 either.

There are a few toll areas where they are only collecting either northbound or southbound. Unfortunately, they keep switching them trying to keep good traffic flow going. IIRC it's the Union tolls - and the switching strategy doesn't work. It's ALWAYS slammed at rush. There are still a LOT of tolls up and down the Parkway, but not as many as there were even 5 years ago.
