First bit of advice. Don't make any investment decisions based on something you've read on the Internet. This is especially true given you state that you don't know much about stocks.

That said, I wouldn't go banking a fortune on it but picking up a couple shares probably wouldn't hurt. Odds are in the favor of it going up and if you keep the investment reasonable, you should be fine. Just don't wager something you can't part with

In this market, the best advice I can give is only invest what you can afford to lose. If your investment horizon is anything less than 5 years, IMO you shouldn't invest in stocks. That is of course unless you want to just gamble with the day to day volatility and try to make a quick buck - however, that's gambling not investing.

Advice given so far is correct especially the part that says " Just don't wager something you can't afford to part with.

Additionally Apple stocks does not pay dividends, much of their growth is based upon Steve jobs vision.
Something to consider.

Thanks for the help.

I didnt read anything on the internet, I follow a couple stocks and apple has really dropped recently.

I dont plan on any type of serious investment, just some money I made over the summer.

Thanks again.

Krunk,
Apple was downgraded today, so keep this in mind when you do your research. When our budgets get squeezed, new computers and Ipods are among the first kinds of things to be cut out. When it comes down to "should I get a new toy or pay my mortgage and power bill?", I think you know where the money will go. There will definitely be some slowing of retail sales over the new few quarters.

Ratings article: http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/...969c11c198.htm

If you can afford a very long position in AAPL I bet you will do well. But if you are looking to play a short game be very cautious. Good luck to ya.

When I cry that Apple went from 200 to 100, I remember that I got in at 17. This time part of the decline was due in part to an anal-ist working for a failed Wall St investing firm, a woman who was so smart she probably lost half of her money.

I agree that Apple will probably rebound in time. I do worry that Jobs is perceived as THE sole reason for Apple's success and if he should go into sleep mode the anal-ists will freak out. I hope he gradually relinquishes power to show that the company's talent is pervasive and can do as well, or even better, without him.

One gets the feeling that Jobs hates the whole shareholder thing and has never spent any time worrying about investor relations. Wall Street still thinks Apple is run by pot-smoking hippies and is not a "real" company.
